01Marxism And The Limitation Of His Philosophy

1

Who is Karl Marx? Is he a saint?

2

Marx cannot belong among the ranks of saints. As you know, saints are not the ones who lived centered on humans. Those who insist on centering on humans cannot be saints. (41:69)

3

Philosophy says that the troublemaker is man. Advocates of philosophy have always caused trouble in history. In the case of Marxism, Marx played a major role in developing his philosophy on a worldwide level. This he did to absorb all other systems of thought into the realm of his thought. Human beings became the center of the development of thought.

4

Accordingly, under the influence of Marxism, the culture of the world became centered on humans. In combining societies centered on humans, what has played the major role internally in today's world is philosophical trends like Marxism.

5

However, the way of the saint is not like that. For saints, the center of life is not human beings but God. This is how they differ from those who support Marxism.

6

Therefore, anyone who does not promote God as the center cannot belong to the ranks of saints. (40:33)

7

Marxism and similar theories today are nothing but a sort of philosophy.

8

Philosophy starts from the individual. The origin of philosophy is human knowledge; it does not emerge from a relationship with God, who is the origin of life.

9

Philosophy tends to focus on the existing human nature, rather than pursue the origin of life, when trying to understand what it means to be a human being. The origin of life is pursued not by philosophy but by religion. (41:69)

10

There was a time when philosophy tried to find God, but it failed. By giving up on finding God, philosophy fell into humanism, which humans like the most. This humanism then fell further, into materialism, which insists that material is the best. (Dec. 18, 1985)

11

What leads today's trend of thought? Philosophy. However, philosophy has nothing to do with true life. You have to know that. Philosophy is not in a position to solve the problems of life.

12

Philosophy can be the object of knowledge and life, but it cannot decide the contents of life. In this sense, philosophy cannot save lives. Saints are not philosophers. What did the saints do? Even though they taught knowledge and the way of life, their teaching was not a tactic to dominate the world.

13

Their teaching was different from philosophy's. The more one knows, the more one tries to dominate the world. Western philosophy is the philosophy of domination.

14

The more one knows, the more he tries to dominate by going beyond himself. Such a person tries to change the world centered on himself. Even though such a person goes forward for the sake of the world, the problem is that he does it centered on himself. Because of this, his direction results in materialism.

15

Therefore, the important thing is what the center is. Since philosophy cannot solve the fundamental problems of human life, it has only the value of objects. (40:330)

16

The world of the mind began before you were born. Your environmental world also started before you were born. Then, did the universe emerge without any purpose? (No!) Even for this piano to be made, there must have been a reason.

17

You may not know how the piano was made, but because some harmonious purpose and effort were invested in it, the piano could be made. That is because some investment was made, and the piano emerged as a result of that investment. Therefore, material things are not the cause but the result.

18

When you are born, which comes first: the origin of the mind, or the origin of matter?

19

When you are born, there is the world as well as the mind. Which existed first? That matter existed first cannot be asserted. Regarding the problem of which came first between matter and mind, two great trends of thought have been argued in history.

20

If you have no mind, can you say, “I am going”? (No.) You think first, and then you do something. When it comes to eating food, can you just eat food? No, your thinking comes first, and then you go eat. In this sense, which comes first? The internal part, thinking, comes first.

21

Then, which is stronger between the body's desire and the mind's desire?

22

The desire of the body has a limit; for example, a person's appetite is satisfied after eating sufficient food. However, the desire of the mind has no limitation. It reaches out, going beyond any limitations. You can know this clearly in your lives. (27:55)

23

The history of human beings has developed toward a certain purpose. The necessary means of accomplishing that purpose is thought and theory. That which is centered on matter is called materialism, and that which is centered on the mind is called idealism.

24

The democratic world has developed centering on religion and culture, which are in the realm of idealism. However, the world is still struggling between materialism and idealism. (20:302)

25

What kinds of worldviews exist today?

26

The materialistic view and the idealistic view. These two are in conflict. Can they become one? No, that is impossible. Human beings consist of mind and body. The mind cannot be analyzed and managed by the realistic method.

27

The world of the mind cannot be understood by the material world. However, even though the world of the mind seems not to have any concrete substance, it can control the world of reality.

28

In this sense, while the material world can be analyzed by the internal world of the mind at the highest level, the world of the mind cannot be analyzed and resolved by the material world because its level is very low. (28:15 1)

29

Today's world is divided into two camps: the Left and the Right, or materialism and idealism. These two will confront each other head-on one day in the near future.

30

When they do, will that be a moment of joy or horror?

31

That is the problem. If horror surrounds their confrontation, then the world will face death. On the other hand, if they meet in joy, the world will be happy. If they try to establish a world system through threat and horror, then the world will end. On the other hand, if they try to unite into one through peace and joy, then the world can live forever. (9:319)

32

The mind is inclined to pursue the highest ideal. It tries to reach up to God. The body is the tool to realize our ideals. However, to realize our ideal requires effort, endurance, and self-sacrifice. There is tension between what the body pursues and what the mind pursues.

33

While the mind is looking for the world of faith, the body is looking for the world of reason. Because of this, two conflicting views developed in human history.

34

Because one view is rational and external, it emphasizes the superiority of the body.

35

For example, physical satisfaction, physical beauty, and interest in science require physical reality. The other view, centered on religious tradition, emphasizes a value that goes beyond the body.

36

The law of the mind, value, and God's revelation, which are of the realm of the mind, cannot be the object of scientific verification. These two views, which we can see in our lives, are the origin of two ideologies in today's world.

37

The democratic world, or free world, started from religious tradition and developed. The foundation for the modern concept of democracy can be traced to the Bible passage, “God created man in His image.”

38

This means that because human beings are children of God, the democratic world respects them. And it grants them the maximum possibility of choice because human behavior cannot have value unless it is freely expressed. On the other hand, communism is the result of a more external, secular trend of thought.

39

After studying the French Revolution and the Enlightenment, Marx insisted on reconstructing society through violence by doing away with faith in God and applying the sociological method. Marx's sociological method is based on denying the existence of God.

40

However, what is the result of Marxism in history?

41

Although some people still support it, Marxism, which reigned for 70 years in the Soviet Union, has ended up a tragic failure.

42

Some 1.5 million people's lives were sacrificed through false charges to establish a strong system of communism, but the world of justice and prosperity that Marx promised cannot be found in a communist society.

43

The countries that support the two great ideologies are confronting each other, and all mankind is threatened by a horrible, destructive power that the world could never imagine. (166:130)

03The Course of Historical Development and Communism

44

Those who have shaped history in the past centuries have been people with good minds, namely intellectuals. If we compare historical eras to parts of the human body, we could say this was the era of the head.

45

But in the period surrounding the first and second world wars, militarists, namely people with power, influenced the world, ushering in another era, the era of the fist.

46

Now we are entering another era centering on the farmers and the era of the foot. For heaven to reclaim everything from Satan's world, history had to develop in that way. In other words, human history is God's history of providence for restoration.

47

Many people with good minds stood on Heaven's side, and most intellectuals from the democratic world who lead the free world today, including America, are people who believe in God.

48

Now, little by little, Satan is being robbed of his head and body, and, finally, he will be kicked out altogether. When humankind, who had been trampled underfoot by Satan, was snatched back by God, Satan faced the inevitable destiny of being eliminated in front of God.

49

As Satan could no longer be attended by humankind, he founded the atheistic ideology of Communism, intending to prevent humankind from attending God, too.

50

You all need to know that. For this reason, we can now see the worldwide phenomenon of separation, which is due to Satan. There is a separation between the head and the hand. The head symbolizes God, and it can be called the information organ of the body.

51

The organs that observe all things are in the head. Through the seven openings of the face, namely the mouth, the nostrils, the eyes, and the ears, the world is perceived.

52

Through this network of intelligence, which represents the number seven, Satan and evil things are to be completely cut off. Therefore, Satan is using his final means to escape.

53

Satan, who once opposed God, now acknowledges God. But now, in this era of the Last Days, when Satan has had to reveal his true identity, he endeavors to deny himself and God so that neither will be worshiped.

54

Communism is such an ideology. Furthermore, Communism is an ideology that tries to prevent humankind from returning to God. Communists hold meetings at night. Secret directions and secret details are all decided on at night. They also meet underground.

55

On the contrary, the democratic world does all these things in the daytime. Therefore, the Communist Party is a movement whose aim is global Communization, making the whole world satanic.

56

God is destined to govern the world, but because the satanic force of Communism has emerged, whose aim is to rule the world instead, God has a big headache.

04The True Character of Materialism

57

Now God and Satan are fighting over humankind. The Bible states that Satan seized authority in heaven and is the ruler of the earth. Therefore, God had to reclaim the sovereignty of heaven and earth. For a long time before the First World War, Heaven had possessed the spiritual world.

58

Since Heaven owned the spiritual world, Satan had to come down to earth, and with the onset of the war, an era began in which God and Satan struggled over global power. Deprived of the global spiritual world, Satan mobilized the world to oppose the heavenly world. What does that mean?

59

The global cultural sphere of Christianity and the cultural sphere of Satan began fighting each other. Also in the spiritual world, centering on the cultural sphere of Christianity, there was a struggle against Satan.

60

In the same way, there is a global struggle on earth between the spiritual God, who is united with the Christian countries, and Satan, who is united with countries opposing Christianity.

61

Because this world was under his dominion, Satan was able to muster the intellectual elite and upper classes to join together in opposing God. That fight took place before the First World War.

62

It was a time when the upper class, which held power in the world, mobilized Satan's world and struck God. Again, referring to the human body, Satan mobilized the head to oppose Heaven. That was the First World War.

63

Next, because Satan lost his head, he turned from the upper class to the middle class. He was pushed down to that level.

64

The era of the neck passed, and the era of the arm, namely the era of power, began. He tried to oppose God with power. This was an era of militarism that corresponds to the middle class. The era of militarism manifested the attitude that with power alone, everything will work out.

65

That was the Second World War. Satan was pushed down to the middle-class level. In terms of the human body, at this point, Heaven had taken everything above the hip. Therefore, Satan, who was pushed down, had no choice but to head towards the very bottom. Thus began the era of the foot.

66

This is the era of the workers and farmers, which is Satan's last attempt to revive. Through Communism, Satan has called together the lower classes centered on workers and farmers. This is the very bottom.

67

Satan has thus reached the lowest level, and when he is expelled from there, he will have nowhere to go. Because he will have nowhere to go and will not be worshiped by humankind, he has created an atheistic ideology to prevent humankind from also worshiping God.

68

Therefore, this ideology is called Earthism – Materialism. It is also called the Economist. He is trying to rule the world through economics. Marxism is a philosophy of economics. It is an ideology that strives to remove the element of heart, the internal God, and is determined to exclusively possess humankind.

69

When you look at this, you all have to understand how crafty and cunning Satan is.

70

Therefore, you have to understand that Communism is Satan's knowledge and wisdom. Because Communism is a movement that is trying to conquer the world not by exalting humankind but by exalting matter, Communists give more priority to matter than to people.

71

Communists think mankind has evolved from matter and don't recognize the value of people. Originally, there was value in people doing things centered on God, but because all that was denied, the world became a world of materialism. Therefore, it is easier to eliminate one person than it is to destroy one house.

72

If there is a choice between the destruction of one house or the killing of 10 people, the latter will be chosen. There is no problem with getting rid of many people. This kind of “ism” is now swaying the world.

73

If the upper class, namely, the head and body, had fulfilled its responsibility, the foot would now be under control; but because it failed in its responsibility, the foot can walk around and cause trouble.

74

If the democratic world had fulfilled its responsibility and the upper class (neck) and the middle class (body) had united with the Lord, forming a normal body, the world could have been made one. Because this didn't happen, it is as if everything died completely.

75

All created things are matter. If this 'ism' that loves matter is so determined to dominate the world, then we need to think about how tough the people in favor of the Creator need to become.

76

It is then a reasonable principle that the "ism" centered on the Creator and the love for the Creator's sovereignty needs to be several times stronger than the "ism" centered on all things and the love of the sovereignty of the Soviet Union centered on materialism.

77

This principle should be obvious to you. It is said that humankind evolved from the soil of the earth. However, the soil came into existence for humankind. If you don't understand this correctly, the world will become Satan's world.

78

You have to understand that the mission of our Unification Church today is to make this clear. Therefore, if only you all crush Satan's world, then the world will be ours. This is our Unificationism.

79

You have to know that the ideal world will appear for the first time when Heaven takes away the spiritual and physical world that Satan has dominated externally and can control. Do you understand? (Yes).

80

You have to know that we have to first separate from Satan's dominion. Until now, humankind has fought over territory and people. Materialism is a theory that intends to captivate people's bodies. It is devoid of any concept that connects with spirituality and the cosmic purpose of Heavenly law and eternal life. This world belongs to humankind.

81

But the basis of materialism is the historical view of economics, and it upholds a world in favor of materialism. However, democracy is putting humankind itself at the center.

82

If all kinds of Marxist theories, such as the theories of labor value, surplus value, dialectic materialism, and historical materialism, are opposite to the truth and lend justification to a violent revolution.

05The Alternative to Materialism

83

What is atheism?

84

Atheism says there is no God. Materialism, centered on matter, and humanism are atheistic theories. Atheism is centered only on itself. Why did an empire such as Rome go to ruin?

85

Because it was not united with God's principles of cause and result, God's principle of the ideal, and God's principle of creation. What is the cause? Self-investment.

86

What is God going to do after investing Himself?

87

He is going to seek love. Even though God invests everything, God needs love. He invested himself in something greater. That is the bottom line.

88

Rome, which had its eyes on the world, was hoping for an ideal world centered on Rome, but it didn't invest enough. While facing the world, it didn't invest in its country.

89

If Rome had sacrificed and invested in itself, what would have happened? The world would have become one with Rome. If you compare the fundamental roots of Godism, theism, and materialism, it becomes very obvious. When atheism, regarding theism, claims that God doesn't exist in the social system, then that in itself amounts to destruction and self-exhaustion.

90

Under this system, the more power is generated, the more exhaustion there is. The motive power of love cannot be supplied in this way. The Communists appeared centering on common property, but why does common property achieve less than private property?

91

This is the problem. From the viewpoint of common property, all groups that possess the right of ownership centered on the profit of the group need to put more importance on the individual than on the profit of the group. If it is done like that, it works. Do you understand?

92

The Party needs to have more regard for the individual than for its own desired profit. This means that property doesn't only belong to the Party but also to a higher private owner. Such a concept hasn't been realized. Always, the individual has had to live only for the sake of the group.

93

There is no concept of the Party living for the individual. That is Satan; that is called a system of dictatorship. What is on Satan's side? The Party centered on the Party; this is absolutism.

94

It has no “ism” that claims living absolutely for the smaller part or shows the Party to be existing for the sake of the individual and family. That is Satan.

95

Therefore, he is pulling the individual into hell. Because the individual can't realize a reciprocal foundation of ideal give-and-take action, he becomes a worthless and destroyed existence. Therefore, he can only go to hell. Do you understand what that means?

96

Communism is a contradiction. It is a logical contradiction to set up a dictatorship regime centered on workers and farmers. Such a logic cannot become an ideal logic. The ideal needs to have give and take.

97

Can you realize the ideal alone? If that were the case, God, who is the greatest ideal subject, could have felt satisfied about being by himself, but he created the world to pursue the realm of ideal love in a relationship with an object.

98

Therefore, we must grasp that the logic of love is based on the origin of creation and has to develop in that context. Isn't that so? That means it can never be separated.

99

If you consider different viewpoints, such as an individual outlook or a family outlook, they should be connected to the bone. Therefore, we have to center everything on the heartistic realm of love. That direction is inevitable regardless of whether you live in the East or the West.

100

If there is something good, the Party wants to get it and doesn't want to give it to the individual. If there is something good, the group shouldn't center on their desire for possession. Without love, this is impossible.

101

The parents, if in the position of subject, don't keep something good to themselves but want to give it to their children because of love. They want to give until they exhaust themselves. In this world, such love doesn't exist. People are centered on the desire for possession and don't think of giving what is theirs to someone else.

102

Therefore, the parents don't show any appreciation for their children. Everything is hooked onto Satan's side, centered on individualism. Therefore, in such a world, the place where this love can be realized is already destroyed. For this reason, individualism and the desire for possession belong to Satan.

103

The desire for possession centered on love is not for material things but for the ideal. Everything can be sacrificed for that ideal. Every aspect of life desired by humankind, including even one's own life, can be sacrificed.

104

Therefore, this dimension is different. No matter how much sacrifice is made, it doesn't become a problem for human life. However, this is not the case with the concept of possession centered on the individual. One cannot go up to a higher level within that concept.

105

You all know Communism, but remember that the concept of Communism is an ideology centered on matter. It is not an ideology centered on God. Furthermore, what is democracy? It is an “ism” centered on people.

106

If so, what is the original Adamism?

107

It is the way of true love: if there is only true love, everything will be resolved. If so, where does True Loveism start from? It starts from God. In that case, when we ask what kind of circumstances humankind is hoping for, it is not a world in which we eat and live well. It is instead a world of True Loveism.

06Dialectical Materialism And The Alternative

108

Hegel's Basic Mistake

109

Hegel's dialectic was wrong. Do you know where to acknowledge the concept called “struggle,” which is found in Hegel's dialectic? If we delve deeply into the mind of humankind, we find that the conscience and the physical mind are struggling.

110

Therefore, Hegel thought that struggle existed there from the beginning. He misinterpreted, thinking that this struggle was an intrinsic part of the world that God created. But this interpretation lacked understanding of the fall of humankind. This was his fundamental mistake.

111

If you investigate the deep mind of fallen humankind deeply, you will find that two opposing minds, the conscience and the physical mind, are confronting each other. It is this confrontation that is behind humankind's historical development.

112

If we analyze fallen humankind, we can see that man embodies two contradictory natures. But a theory was created stating that the universe had also developed in that way and that God had created man as a being who embodied these two contradictory natures.

113

Communist ideology analyzes all matters and understands the development of history from a dialectic viewpoint. They are propagating a theory of struggle in which the social reality is divided into an upper sphere and a lower sphere, and history develops through the confrontation between these two spheres.

114

Therefore, they created a theory that claims that what existed before has to be destroyed for the sake of development.

115

Hegel's dialectic took the position that humankind hadn't fallen. But, in fact, the opposite is true. Because of the fall of humankind, the conscience and physical mind started to oppose and struggle with each other.

116

Created humankind originally didn't have any contradiction within itself. We absolutely need a substantial movement upholding such a viewpoint, which is one with the standard of the original creation. Hegel regarded contradiction as being inherent in “the market of life.” He regarded contradiction as being intrinsic to everyday life and that religion is strange.

117

However, Hegel's thought and his formulated theory are fundamentally flawed. It was a mistake to regard fallen mankind as a being that was created like that.

118

Therefore, we need to quickly emphasize and promote the concept that humankind did fall.

119

Within humankind, the conscience and physical mind are arguing with each other. The expansions of these two entities ultimately caused the division of the world into democracy/spiritualism and Communism/materialism.

120

As these two entities have developed, the harvest is being manifested as the Last Days, which is a phenomenon of our present time. From such a viewpoint, how shall our Unification thought tackle this issue? Because the starting point was flawed, we have to go back to the origin, which is a higher dimension.

121

What original human form would constitute a higher dimension?

122

It is not a form where the conscience and physical mind are fighting with each other but rather a form in which conscience and physical mind are united. From the viewpoint of a standard of absolute and eternal unity, the spiritual world and the physical world have to become one.

123

Until now, we have all been false. Look at yourself! Why are you false? You are struggling with your mind and body. How can that be called true? When two are fighting, can they become true? (No).

124

Humankind in this state of falseness was examined carefully, and the contradictory logic called dialectic was found. All the discoveries made by people such as Hegel came from the study of fallen, struggling humankind.

125

Nowadays, philosophers generally don't understand the concept of the Fall, and when they examine the mind, they say, "It seems like this”, and something approximating a dialectic principle emerges.

126

Looking at man from the point of having already fallen, the theory of the origin of struggle can be given much credence. If you analyze the mind of humankind, there is clear evidence of struggle, making this theory seem quite plausible.

The Mistake of the Dialectic Theory

127

Communism says that everything develops because there is power in the macrocosm. They acknowledge the surrounding world first and then develop the logic. For anything to exist, there first needs to be an environment in which that existence can be sustained.

128

Water, earth, and air have to be there. These are the indispensable environmental conditions needed. If you analyze their argument, where is the starting point of the environment that enables evolution?

129

There cannot be any. That is the contradiction. Where does the life-supporting environment begin?” “Naturally.” “If you say naturally, according to which law?” “Because of power.” “But how is power generated?” Power cannot be generated by itself. Before there is power, there needs to be a reciprocal foundation.

130

The same is true for scientific phenomena: there cannot be any action or movement unless there is a reciprocal base that is connected with purpose.

131

If that is so, what do you need before power can exist?

132

You need a reciprocal foundation. There needs to be a concept of subject and object to acknowledge a reciprocal foundation.

133

There needs to be a base of common purpose so that subject and object, plus and minus, can engage in give-and-take action. Therefore, the phenomenon of power or action can be generated only within the domain of the common purpose of power. If that is so, then the dialectic that Communism upholds is debunked.

134

Communists say there was something in opposition to the origin, and that through struggle, they will become one. The origin and that which opposes it are entirely different concepts. They have a different sphere of purpose.

135

Can they become one while they have different spheres of purpose?

136

They don't say that originally an origin and something were opposing that origin. Rather, they say that first there was some opposing element that had to go through a course of struggle to reach the origin.

137

However, reciprocal action can only occur within the limits of the common-purpose sphere. It absolutely cannot be generated in a situation that would bring damaging results. Mutual give-and-take action occurs within a sphere where the common purpose is established.

138

From this viewpoint, the dialectic of Communism is fundamentally wrong.

139

Everything exists reciprocally. If the object is chosen, the purpose automatically makes itself apparent. That purpose possesses even greater value than the sum of the two entities.

140

Therefore, the two become united not because of mutual contradictory confrontation, but for the sake of accomplishing the common purpose. This is the fundamental idea of the Unification Church.

141

With this proof, you can turn this false theory upside down, and the theories of historical materialism, economics, and all of Marx's theories will be proven false.

142

What is Communism?

143

It recognizes neither subject nor object. There is also neither direction nor purpose. The relationship of subject and object is regarded as one of struggle. They become one through conflict.

144

On Earth, where does such a law exist? (Father laughs.) Is it possible? Does it mean that man and woman, or mind and body, become one through fighting? They say that even though there is a subject and object, matter comes first, not the mind. The mind is a by-product of matter.” They are just turning things upside down.

145

This bad guy, Satan! While he says, “direction is struggle,” he is striving to realize a direction characterized by struggle. This is not a direction towards peace. He says, “Unification needs to see blood, and as you see blood, there is unification.” This violates the principle of historical development as well as the principle upon which the universe exists.

146

Power is always generated through mutual give-and-take action between the subject and object. Subject and object don't have give-and-take to damage each other. If the head gets chopped off, there can be no give-and-take action. For example, during adolescence, when it comes to dating, a man wants to meet a woman as a partner, and vice versa.

147

As they meet, they have to like each other. As long as there is no plus or benefit experienced, one absolutely won't give of oneself. One dislikes to give. If it becomes clear that someone would receive benefit from a relationship and that it would not result in any damage, then that person would want to have give-and-take with the other.

148

But if they meet for the first time and from the first day on, there are only negative elements, they won't want to meet again. They absolutely won't want to see each other.

149

Even if you look at subject and object from the viewpoint of mutual purpose, unless one can receive more plus points and greater purpose from a partner than one would receive by being alone, one would rather not have give-and-take with that partner. Once again, if a good result doesn't come, there won't be any give-and-take.

150

What does good mean? It means that it becomes a plus. What does bad mean? If things are constantly taken away, eventually everything disappears and becomes a minus. Good things become plus and prosper, while bad things become negative and perish.

151

So, if there is a minus situation, no matter whether there is a relationship between subject and object, and regardless of whether more power is applied, the dynamic of give-and-take action won't be generated.

152

When we look at it from this viewpoint, the dialectic of Communism is ignorant of that argument. For there to be power, a relationship between subject and object is necessary. This is a prerequisite.

153

Even when you conduct a chemical experiment and look at the tendency of chemical elements to ionize, you will notice that the elements don't act unconditionally. If a chemical element can increase and fulfill its given purpose through interaction with another element, it will act immediately.

154

If there is even a tiny element added that would bring a minus and disturb the chemical element itself, it absolutely won't act. This universe is acting and protecting itself. That is a principle. That is called a scientific principle. Do you understand?

155

Nowadays, the world faces enormous problems because of Communism's attachment of great importance to philosophy and dialectic theory. No existence doesn't possess the aspect of purpose.

156

Development occurs only where a greater purpose is pursued. If we look at humankind, we should see that it is a resultant entity. It exists because something caused it to exist.

The Concept of Struggle in Communism

157

If you look at the dialectic on which Communist ideology is centered, what kind of principle of struggle does it provide? Every social existence centered on a contradictory course is divided into an upper element and a lower element.

158

The upper and lower elements cannot become united, and the upper element exploits the lower element. The concept of love doesn't exist. There is only a concept of struggle.

159

What are they aiming at? Utopia—the ideal. What is the ideal? It is a world of peace resulting from struggle. Such a world of peace is different from the peace that democracy talks about today.

160

Everything that violates that peace is eliminated. It is called a reactionary element. They discuss a peaceful world in which all reactionary elements are eliminated. That is the difference.

161

Today, the Soviet Union advocates peace centered on Marxism-Leninism and thus doesn't mean a state of peace through becoming one with non-supportive elements, but a state of peace in which all reactionary elements that violate Marxism-Leninism are eliminated. They are talking about a state of peace in which there are no opposing elements. That is the difference.

162

Democracy talks about a concept of peace where right and left harmonize and become one, thus creating an ideal state. That is the fundamental difference. Democracy is talking about inclusive and idealistic concepts and not about concepts of elimination and destruction.

163

Therefore, this Communist ideology cannot be approved or tolerated by humankind, and people like us must become the spearhead in the fight against it worldwide.

164

In communism, love and even parents and family are regarded as major areas of exploitation. According to this thought, children exploit the position of their parents for their benefit. Within this theory, you cannot say there is love.

165

The question is whether there can be truth here or not. Today, Communism proclaims, “We have to gain supremacy over the whole world.” Whoever opposes that will be expelled and eliminated. Even one's colleagues and parents aren't immune and can be eliminated.

166

How is it possible to massacre people?

167

It is possible when the absolute value of human life, even that of one's friends and relatives, is not recognized. The only thing attributed to this value is the Party. The Party is only a skeleton. The more one regards the Party as the greatest entity, the more it becomes fearful and cold-hearted.

168

Do the mind and body feel comfortable in such a place?

169

Surely not. Because of the ever-changing structure centered on the dialectic dynamic, you cannot live eternally. You have to know that this theory cannot aspire to anything eternal and elevated.

The Contradiction of the Theory of Struggle

170

Now the world is divided into two: the democratic system and the communist system. Which one is true? Both of them claim to be true, don't they? Does it need to be officially approved as to which one is true?

171

Such approval has to come from history. According to Communist theory, history has to be officially recognized. Because history develops through struggle, according to the dialectic argument, tradition is not cherished.

172

Therefore, Satan is the ringleader of the destruction of tradition. Satan is the leader of destruction. Thousands of years of history cannot be set up. Because such a system is false, it cannot make any historical claims. That means that there is no traditional historical background following the unchanging rule of the Principle.

173

Then, when is the Communist world going to set up a historical foundation of tradition that is unchanging and based on the truth? They talk about a world of utopia. Mankind passes through the stage of socialism and enters the era of communist society. Is the communist society, therefore, the end?

174

What would the world become with such a contradictory argument? Dialectical materialism embodies the concept of struggle. The inherent state of contradiction is resolved through struggle. The conclusion is that the ideal world cannot be established through the concept of struggle, but only through the concept of investment. That which becomes the subject has to invest.

175

If you hold a high position and you invest yourself, you will decrease, but your object will increase. Students will claim, “There is a need for a revolution of consciousness.

176

Evil has to be chased out, and good has to remain.” That is right, but is the Communist Party good?

177

The essence of dialectic materialism is conflict. Does conflict lead to achievement? Is such an argument correct? When a man and a woman love each other, is that a conflict? A Man and a woman become one through love, not conflict.

178

Communism regards man and woman as contradictory beings. So, how would it be possible to become one in harmony? They are crazy! Because of them, the world is collapsing.

179

Dialectic theory is ridiculous. Two entities confront each other, and through struggle, they become one. The argument goes that every man and woman are struggling, but the next morning, there is development. (laughter). Is that possible? It's far from it. If there is fighting, there is damage on both sides, and there is retreat.

180

In the history of the world, have you ever seen a country that fought and became rich and powerful? You must know the answer to this. The dialectic is a concept of struggle. The starting point is dissatisfaction. A dissatisfied Satan broke God's will.

181

You shouldn't be manipulated by Satan, who rebelled against God's will and who is using a theoretical base to confuse the world.

182

What is the concept of struggle in Communism?

183

It is a doctrine that weakens both the upper and lower levels through division and conflict. We must recognize and go beyond the failure of the first and second Israel and instead embrace the ideology of the unification of the whole world centered on the sphere of the third Israel.

184

The ideal is not achievable through force or power, but only through love. We have already reached an era in which many problems cannot be solved.

185

Therefore, secular people question why humankind has become that way.

186

Today, history will be ruined in a whirlpool of confusion because religion can provide only a vague explanation of the cause of the fall and cannot present it systematically.

187

From what angle does the Unification Church look at history?

188

History is indeed a history of struggle, but good and evil are transformed through that struggle. That is the difference. Good and evil fight with each other, and evil becomes eliminated, and as this struggle has gradually become a global struggle, the world is changing toward goodness. That is the view of the history of the Unification Church.

189

Do parents need development and revolution in their hearts?

190

What do you think? Even animals know how to love their offspring, don't they?

191

Can the dialectics of Marx, Lenin, and Hegel be applied here? The concept of restoration is not found in dialectic theory. It doesn't develop. The argument that everything will return to the developing world—the Communist world- is false.

192

That logic is absurd. It starts off from a static, unchanging point and goes through an unchanging course and connects with an unchanging end-point and finally arrives at something unified. That is not going to bring about a world of love and oneness. It's impossible with this theory.

193

If it were possible with this theory, I would have already brought an end to Communism. Because I am a person who has been confronted with Communism since my youth, I have become today the leader of anti-Communism.

194

Why is religion needed?

195

Religion is needed to resolve humankind's contradictions and to unite God and man. Religion is needed until the ideal is reached. Therefore, when the perfect human of God appears, religion will not be needed anymore.

196

Amid this contradictory environment, we yearn and hope for the ideal that can be reached through the framework called religion. This is true theoretically. But we can conclude that it is impossible to claim that contradictory humankind can realize the ideal world through rapid progress and struggle.

197

Today, it is impossible through dialectic theory or Communism. It has no standard for realizing it. Rather, it ignores the standard. They say that matter comes before spirit, which means that the lump of meat, the body, is perfect.

198

If we look at ourselves, can we say that the body is more perfect than the mind? (No.) The body exists in the limited sphere, while the mind exists in the unlimited sphere. If we question which of the two is greater, it is the mind, not the body.

199

Analyzing in this way, if we look at the systems of Communism and Democracy, we should recognize that only theism, in the form of religion, provides the logic and a path that leads to the realization of the ideal.

200

What kind of man is Reverend Moon?

201

Amidst the whirlpool of such problems, Reverend Moon has taken greater pains to solve these problems than any other person. How can a standard be made that is unchangeable even after tens of thousands of years?

202

If even after countless years from now, people, centering on an “ism” that upholds an absolute standard of the past, invest themselves wholeheartedly, facing limitations and persevering with a desperate and absolute conviction, the whole world will automatically become unified.

203

From such a viewpoint, unification absolutely cannot come about in this present world centered on the dialectic of Communism. It is a logical contradiction to say that unification comes through struggle. They have hope for the future and pursue unification, but through such a method, a unified world cannot be realized.

What cannot be Explained Through Dialectic Theory?

204

What is true love? Is it changeable or unchangeable?

205

(Unchangeable.) Let us look at the types of unchanging love in this world. What are they? Is it the love between husband and wife? (No.) Is it the love of parents for their children? Which one is it? Which one is unchangeable? (Parents' love.)

206

Between the love of children for their parents and the love of parents for their children, which one is more unchangeable? (The love of parents for the children.) We can see throughout history the fact that no matter how much love changes, the love of parents for their children doesn't change.

207

S, what does the problem become here?

208

Can Communism explain through dialectic theory the power of love that parents have for their children? That is the problem. Can they or can't they? (They cannot.)

209

They absolutely cannot. For example, let's assume the son of the biggest leader of the Communist Party gets in trouble with the Communist law and is sentenced to death. As he is about to die, what is the heart of his parents like? Would they say, “Die quickly, you villain.”?

210

Whatever the Party says and does away with, will parents have the desire, centered on parental love, to save their child or not? Which mind comes first? Is it the mind that says you have to do or the mind that has sympathy and likes to forgive?

211

Which mind comes first?

212

What would the professors who teach dialectic theory of Communism be like? They would be the same. How about the worker or farmer?

213

Wouldn't they react the same way if their children's lives were in danger? Is it any different?

214

This is a natural phenomenon. Even a dog dies for the sake of his puppies. Even animals are like that. Can this love be revolutionized?

215

Can the theory of Communism change it? Please let me know if you have any questions. (No.) Regardless of what it is, neither Communism nor Democracy can revolutionize such a true, original love. The conclusion is that it is unchangeable.

216

Do you understand and recognize this? Do you recognize this? Does it become recognized by theory? Then why is parents' love like that? Why does such love endure in the world in which we live?

217

Where does it originate from?

218

The parents love. Before the expression of parents' love, the love is already there. What is the motive behind the result? Where is the cause? As soon as one thinks one needs to have this love, it shows itself. Is that a motive for the result that one doesn't even know?

219

Is it a position of motivation or a position of result?

220

What is the origin? (God.) As a result, we come to know the fact that there is one entity called God who is at the origin of all our ancestors. Man is a resultant being, not a causal being.

221

Because the cause and the result have to be the same, the result needs to become one with the cause. Because they have the same form, if it applies to the result, it also applies to the cause. That is the correct theory. If there is no cause, there is also no result.

222

Is the love between parents and children good or bad?

223

No matter how much revolution and change take place in the world, and even though the theory of development through dialectic transformation expands to some extent, there is no power that can revolutionize the parents' heart of love for their children.

224

Can the bird's love for its offspring be revolutionized?

225

Can that be done or not? (Cannot.) Can that be changed? (Cannot.) It is absolute. It was the same a thousand years ago and ten thousand years ago. Communism claims that everything develops centered on the concept of struggle.

226

If that is the case, when we look at the salmon's behavior, we should expect greater development. But how is it that they endure so much hardship to reach the place where, once they lay their eggs, they die? The question is: Why do they die?

227

What is eternally unchanging, absolute, good, and can absorb everything, and can cause transformation to goodness? That is God. But even God, of an unchanging mind and center, cannot do it alone. Love is needed. Love has to be found.

228

When you ask the Communist Party, they also hope for eternal and complete love. It is the same with them. Therefore, we can draw a theoretical conclusion that whereas the ideal of dialectic philosophy cannot bring happiness to humankind, the ideal of unchanging-love philosophy can. Do you understand?

229

Nobody complains about that. The king, as well as the worker, likes that. It surpasses any rank. You have to know that there cannot be any ranks. (91-146)

07The Time Of “No-Ideology”

230

The Current of Thought

231

When we look back at the history of 2,000 years after Jesus, a significant number of Christians have developed various movements to rediscover God. As a result of the movement, the Roman Empire, which had persecuted Christianity extremely, came to authorize Christianity.

232

As established by the Vatican in Rome, Christianity came to conduct the affairs of state, centering on the papacy. Through this papacy, Christianity came to provide an important foundation in forming the feudal society.

233

However, in Medieval times, when the papacy was in decay, as a reaction against that, humanism came to emerge. Humanism gave a great influence on the medieval feudal society. Because of the influence of humanism, medieval Christians gradually came to grow far away from God.

234

A significant number of people gave up their faith and embraced humanism instead. Humanism has developed through the course of history. It passed through the Age of Enlightenment and finally gave birth to historical materialism.

235

Historical materialism is based on rationalism and empirical philosophy, which emphasize human reason and experience as the base of philosophy. This materialism is having a great influence on modern society.

236

Especially through the influence of materialism and capitalism, modern society has fallen into a world where the idea that money is everything is prevalent.

237

Then, who made the medieval feudal society collapse?

238

God collapsed it. God had wanted to develop His Will centering on the Vatican in Rome, but because Christianity decayed under the feudal society, God could not help but collapse the medieval feudal society.

239

God raised humanism. Humanism came to play a decisive role in destroying the medieval feudal society. That is, since medieval people who believe in God, betrayed God's will, God could not help but reprimanding Christians by destroying the feudal society through humanism.

240

However, in order not to lose His providential base, God raised Martin Luther, who was seriously worried about God's providence, and had him reform the decayed religion.

241

Likewise, God partly reprimanded the decayed religion, and God raised a new religion through the Reformation. In other words, while humanism representing the Cain-type, developed by destroying the decayed social system, Christianity representing the Abel-type, developed by reforming its religion and by undergoing various historical courses.

242

That is, the two thoughts of humanism and Christianity came to develop respectively in a dialectical relationship. Providentially, Christianity formed the realm of the second Israel through various historical courses.

243

Christianity not only passed through the confused situation of the Renaissance, but also passed through the current of enlightenment centered on humanistic philosophy. Finally, in this modern society, Christianity is contending with materialism, which was derived from humanism.

244

Voltaire, Rousseau, and Montesquieu had thought that Christianity would collapse.

245

However, even though Christianity was confronted by the currents of enlightenment, pious people from Germany had saved Christianity by raising the pietist movement, which emphasizes the internal, mystical experience with God.

246

The pietist movement influenced England, and John Wesley from England revived the pietist movement by raising the Methodist movement. Moreover, Quakers contributed to the development of Christianity by raising the mystic movement to emphasize the internal experience.

247

Likewise, God has worked providentially in the background of the history of Christianity. On the other hand, because of the influence of materialism, modern people not only grew far away from God's love, but also were isolated from their reason and themselves. They were secularized and came to adore materialism, whose most precious value is material.

248

However, even though mankind has fallen because humanism ultimately has to return to its original position before the fall, materialism, which prevents mankind from returning to the original position by denying human personality, will by necessity be destroyed.

249

The Medieval Age centered on God has passed away, the rationalism and empiricism centered on rational philosophy have also passed away, and the materialism based on historical materialism is losing its influential power gradually.

250

In the future, people will not be satisfied with only loving material things and will not resolve humanity's fundamental problem, even by the teachings of past historical figures.

251

The world of the future will be confronted by a miserable situation that humans cannot manage. Communism cannot be the fundamental solution for the future world.

252

This is so because Communism regards humanity as the outcome of material and tries to have human society prosper by the productive capacity of material without regard to God.

253

Thus, communists will never have dominion over the world as they wish. In the 21st century, with the onset of the atomic age, as the influential power of material civilization decreases, the communists' dream of having dominion over the world will be frustrated.

254

Then, after Communism, what period will come?

255

The age of love will come. People will find joy in the world of love and share joy by living for the sake of one another. Therefore, we should be wise individuals who can fit the coming age of love.

256

To do so, we should be able to analyze all trends of thought and synthesize them. In fulfilling such a mission, we can be proud people in the age of love and before the universe.

257

Because you must go through the course of fallen Adam and Eve, each individual has to inherit the historical mission of the second Adam. However, you have to know that you do not qualify to fulfill such a mission.

258

Moreover, you have to know that today's history was formed by the process of finding God, true humans, and true all things, which had been lost due to the fall. (4-17)

08Humanism and Godism

259

Humanism cannot be the Ideal

260

If God likes religion, Satan dislikes it. They are opposite each other. It must be true. Don't you think so? [Yes!] In the last days, God's side and Satan's side will be divided. Therefore, the world will be divided into two groups: those who oppose religion and the other, which support religion.

261

This is a natural conclusion. In that situation, what kind of problem will be raised? The problem of truth and falsehood will be raised. That is, which is right, humanism or Godism? From this viewpoint, humanism does not lead people to God's side, but it leads to Satan's side.

262

God's side is the world of goodness. So, this world is necessarily divided into the two worlds of good and evil. Such phenomena are certainly manifested in today's world.

263

What period are we in now?

264

We are facing teatime when we should attack the whole world that is dominated by humanism. Can this world have a hope for the future? Material civilization cannot but be frustrated and will fall into desperation. In the Oriental concept, desperation means that there is no hope for the future.

265

Why is the history of humanity confronted by desperation?

266

It is because humans denied God and received humanism. It is because material civilization centered on humanism is dominating this world. Mankind descended from fallen ancestors.

267

By adoring such fallen humanism, this world cannot have hope. Then, what should we do in this fallen world? As fallen descendants, we have to adore what is not fallen.

268

How can one adore what is not fallen?

269

One has to return to God through religion. Therefore, the nation that adores God, the thought that adores Heaven, and the world that adores God can never perish. That must be so.

270

It is because Satan's world and God's world are opposite. If one follows Satan, one must fail. On the other hand, if one follows God, one must achieve success. These days, everything related to God and religion is denied because of humanism, and religious foundations are collapsing.

271

If mankind lives centered on humanism, mankind cannot have hope for the future. Today's phenomena reveal such a negative conclusion. Accordingly, we have to analyze the traditional concept of God and the past religions, and then we have to establish a new concept of God and a new view of religion centered on God. By doing so, we have to overcome humanism. Otherwise, mankind cannot have hope. This is a conclusion. Do you understand? [Yes]

272

If such a movement is not expanded rapidly to the whole of the world, there is no way to save mankind, which lies in desperation. (83-128)

273

Humanism cannot be the ideal thought of mankind. Humanism centered on fallen humans is not an ideal thought. Humanism tries to absorb everything centered on humans. However, when we look at the human himself carefully, everybody is selfish and self-centered. (64-322)

The Historical Development Of Humanism

274

In the 12th and 13th Centuries, humanism centered on human experience began to develop. At the end of the 16th Century, humanism arrived at the extreme stage, which denies the existence of God. (42-313)

275

Humanism has developed from the Renaissance up to the present, and through that process, human history has changed. It is the history of expelling God. (30-301)

276

The Vatican threatened people with its authority in the name of God. In the name of God, they said, “If you do not do this, you will go to Hell.” This is a kind of threat.

277

However, when rational people think of this teaching rationally, they come to recognize that it must be wrong. From this point, people come to a point of disbelief, asking, “Is religion necessary for humans?”

278

Because of such blind teaching of religion, humanism came to emerge, and the history of materialism expanded all over the world. Moreover, the atheistic insistence that God does not exist became widespread. (165-64)

279

Owing to the appearance of humanism, theistic thought was damaged. However, because humanism does not fit the universal law, the destruction of humanism will necessarily come. (93-83)

280

Seen in the context of the history of the trend of thought, theistic thought turned over its influential power to materialism, and humanism turned over its influential power to materialism, the thought that makes the world destroyed. [Laughing.]

281

Dancing disco was derived from that thought, which destroys the world. Likewise, human thought has changed throughout human history. (May 1, 1980)

282

Mankind came to depart from God and took a long journey of thought. Mankind went through materialism based on atheism and went through secular Humanism based on the thought of anti-God philosophers and eventually fell into Hedonism.

283

Accordingly, mankind arrived at the final point of hope, like the end of human history. Those thoughts came to be the fundamental cause of the drain of spirituality of today's generation and the decline of faith. That history is giving great stimulation to religious people. (Nov. 12, 1985)

284

Seen in the development of the history of mankind, vague theological thought influenced the world for a while. When that declined, humanism emerged. Although today's world is still under the influence of humanism, humanism cannot be the thought that would bring hope to mankind.

285

Today, communism, which betrayed humanism, has emerged and has influenced all over the world. These phenomena show the gloomy prospects for humans' future. (77-282)

286

This world where we are living is a confused world. Throughout history, human society has passed through vague theistic thought and various thoughts, and now we are standing in an uncertain time of humanism.

287

Moreover, today's society is under the influence of materialism. In such an uncertain historical situation, because humanism and materialism do not present certain contents in the process of history, today mankind is confronted by the time of no-ideology.

288

Mankind comes to think that the current thought can no longer manage this world. Therefore, what becomes a problem to us is neither human nor material. The problem is that a certain view of God does not emerge.

289

If a certain view of God is established at this present time, through the new view of God, a new outlook on life and a new view of history can be established again.

290

Without doing so, mankind cannot have hope for the future. If we know God certainly, every problem, such as the vague view of God in the Medieval Age, humanism, and materialism, will be solved. (77-257)

The Origin Of Humanity Must Be Understood

291

How do we describe this world? Existentially, humans are still struggling between mind and body. So, the world can be said to be the place where 3.6 billion people are struggling between their minds and bodies.

292

Because of this, there are always conflicts and fighting in this world. Isn't that right? In other words, the form and results of this world were made by the struggle between mind and body. This struggle between mind and body made mankind pay a great price in sacrifice throughout history.

293

Such a history of struggle is the very history of the world and the reality of this world. The worldwide struggle cannot be solved only by a sovereign nation. What should be done to solve that problem? Firstly, the unity between mind and body has to be accomplished, and on the worldwide level, the world representing mind has to achieve victory against the world representing body.

294

To do so, true motivation and true results have been raised. If such contents are presented because people can be united centering on that motivation and result, all the problems of the world will be resolved. Then, who can make the worldwide fighting stop?

295

That fighting cannot be stopped today by any thought or theory. It cannot be stopped by humanism centered on humans. Why is that so? Did the human mind begin from itself? If one's mind is derived from oneself with self-motivation, the fighting between the mind and body can be stopped so that the world would be unified one centering on humanism.

296

At the beginning of this world, were human progenitors born centering on self-motivation and self-will? Human beings are a relative existence. No matter how much one strongly insists that the human is subjective, the human is an absolutely relative existence.

297

However, since humanism insists on human subjectivity, humanism cannot help but generate negative results. Therefore, you have to deny what you like. You have to deny what the advanced countries are advocating. Such a negative stand against humanism has to occur. As an example of the negative phenomena caused by humanism, hippies are now causing social problems in America.

298

That is the historical gift. That is a punishment for the evil that violates moral laws. These days, with the negative results of humanism manifesting themselves, what shall we do? Humanism cannot manage the negative results of the history of the world. Materialism also cannot do that.

299

The human mind cannot be a fundamental motive of human existence. Material also cannot be a motive of human existence. Therefore, the origin of mankind must be correctly identified.

300

However, the thought in the Renaissance of the 13th century had a great influence on the current of thought of that time and brought about the result to deprive humanity of God's name in human history. In the end, the thought of the Renaissance arrived at the conclusion that God is dead. Then, are human beings alive?

301

Before God can be dead, humanity would die first. However, people, like groups of corpses, are making a disturbance that God is dead. Such a society cannot have hope for the future.

302

Humanism, materialism, and communism cannot make a foundation for human happiness. No matter how human reached their ideal and fulfilled their responsibility in their social life, those things would by necessity pass away. Your achievement in this fallen world has to be denied totally.

303

Why is that so?

304

Because the body has to be always denied before the mind, all works that are achieved centered on one's body have to be denied. Today's communist countries are denying God and human consciousness as well as human personality. Communism tries to push people into its logical realm, which is centered on materialism.

305

However, originally, humanism as a subject was created to manage the logic or the theory, but was not created to be bound by a logic or a theory. Theory cannot dominate the world of love. What is the love of a father?

306

What is the love of a mother?

307

Can those questions be explained by theory? If the ideal love can be absorbed into theory, such love is not needed by humans. Such a theory cannot be made. (22-224)

Every Thought Centered On God

308

Why do problems such as no-ideology and the destruction of the view of value occur? It is because those problems occur in trying to manage every problem centering on humans.

309

Therefore, in pursuing the new world of the future, there may be a method that can manage such problems. The method would be able to explain clearly whether God is there or not, and if an absolute God exists or not. In other words, if some thought and theory, which are explained from God's viewpoint, not from the human viewpoint, are not found, the world we desire can never come in the future.

310

From a certain view of God, the problem of life and material has to be solved. Those problems would not be solved separately but from a synthetic viewpoint.

311

The problem of materialism and humanism has to be solved in God's nation with God as the absolute center. Otherwise, that cannot be resolved absolutely. That is a natural conclusion. (78-99)

312

Today, both the left wing and the right wing were established, centered on human will. “If I can only live a happy life, everything will be fine.” This selfish thinking was also established, centered on humanism. Such thinking is false humanism.

313

Do you think that the appearance of humanism is not the result of the human fall?

314

Although humanism centered on God can be permitted, the humanism which denies God, is apparently the fruit of the fall. Therefore, to overcome such false humanism, firstly, the present humanism has to be denied totally, and then Godism has to be established anew.

315

Based on that, Godism humanism have to be pursued again. In this sense, the starting point of thought and life has to be God. If a human does not live a life centered on God, there would be no way for that human to return to God. (59-89)

316

Communism cannot explain resultant things or causal things. Democracy also cannot explain cause and effect. Then, who can explain that? What should emerge here is a religion.

317

Some religion must emerge, and teach with certainty, “You were begun from this motive and are going forward in that resultant world.” Moreover, that teaching has to be established as the standard that most people can accept. That standard must be centered on God, not humanism. (10-159)

318

Now, we have arrived at the stage where we would consider the world that has synthesized all thoughts and theories. That is, if there is a certain and true God, there will be Godism which goes beyond every ideology and thought, and there will be humanism which true God can authorize, and there will be materialism which true God can admit, and there will be the unified one world in which all those cannot be separated absolutely and can be authorized by God. (77-282)

319

God's purpose of creation is to establish a humanism based on God. If humanity goes towards God, democracy, which was created in the process of going to God, can also be regarded as the process of establishing Godism. (10-118)

320

Advanced nations, which developed the world culture of the 20th Century, are saying proudly that they do not need to receive another philosophy or thought anymore.

321

Accordingly, they cannot have the opportunity to be revolutionized by God's truth. Communism is also not a thought about which God can feel joy. (20-107)

322

Materialism must fail. On the contrary, does democracy have a historical and victorious condition? It does not. Without a victorious condition, there cannot be a victory in the future.

323

Then, what would religion, which does not have such a victorious condition, have to do?

324

Every Christian in the world has to be united into one. Now, what goes forward into the future of hope has to emerge. Although some religions insist on going back to the past, today's situation is not the same as the past.

325

Could today's problem be managed by the contents of the past?

326

We should not go back to the past. Only when we achieve historical and actual results can we establish a foundation for the future. Therefore, the thought, which can synthesize the past, present, and future, has to emerge. (11-253)

327

Communism is the thought centered on the human and material.

328

However, humanity will be changed and material will also be changed. Communism was made centering on changeable human and material.

329

Human opinion is changeable. Don't you think so? However, what God insists on will never be changed? Then, what is the goodness and righteousness on which God insists? It is to live for the sake of heaven and earth. This has never changed. (87-261)

330

We created the CAUSA movement to resolve the problem created by secular humanism. (May 6, 1986)

The Inadequacy Of Medieval Thought

331

The reason materialism cannot manage the human problem is that it excludes God and the value of humans. Materialism denies the value of the human. Therefore, materialists massacre people mercilessly. That is the very problem.

332

How about humanism representing the democratic world? Humanists exclude God and take seriously the view of materialism. That is a pernicious evil. In this sense, they have nothing to do with God.

333

They are rather close to communism. Then, between the materialist and humanist, who is stronger? Materialists can be stronger than humanists. That is why humanists are likely to be subjugated by materialists. Materialists deny human personality and forget God. In the world of materialism, there cannot be an ideal.

334

Accordingly, True Father advocates Godism. Godism can fundamentally include humanism and materialism. Why? It is because God values human personality as the object of love.

335

Moreover, because God created humans as the subject of the symbolic world centered on material, God sees human value even in the world related to material. Thus, Godism itself has a foundation to contain humanism and materialism. Godism is very inclusive and contains various meanings.

336

Thus, Godism, or Unificationism, appears to be excellent. On the other hand, even though there was thought centered on God in the Medieval Age, the thought could not establish a unified ideal world centering on God, humanity, and material because it was a vague and imperfect thought.

337

To enter the Kingdom of Heaven, one has to certainly know a God of personality, and has to know the value of objective humanity before God, and certainly has to know the value of material, which is an object of humanity.

338

God, man, and material have to be combined by subjective content. What is the subjective content? That is love. God, man, and all things are combined through love. That united world is the very ideal world.

339

However, in the Medieval age, such a unified world could not be established by Medieval thought centered on God. God, who was supposed to practice love, could not be found.

340

Although people had thought of God and talked about God, nobody practiced God's will. Because that thought was abstract and uncertain, it came to be changed to an autocratic thought. Since that thought could not give certain answers to people at that time, it came to ask for blind faith.

341

Accordingly, Medieval Christian thought came to be far from the essence of God, and finally fell to downfall of solar thought centered on God. That thought came to deny human personality and became exclusive.

342

So, while the thought regarded its standard as absolute, it denied the relative value of others. Accordingly, the thought centered on God could not but be destroyed by another thought. Even though Medieval thought was centered on God, it did not clearly understand the God of personality. That had such a deficiency. (167-66)

The Necessity Of Rediscovering God

343

What is Communism?

344

It is based on materialism as well as atheism. Then, what kind of thought does Christianity and Western society have? They have theism and idealism. Which will get a victory between materialism and idealism, and between atheism and theism? What is the problem here?

345

The way Christianity can revive is through the rediscovery of God. Because communism denies God, if the existence of God is proved with certainty, communism cannot help but collapse.

346

From the beginning of human history, God started with humans, and has been working with humans throughout history, and is still working with humans currently.

347

However, the most important thing is knowing how to rediscover God, who is in the process of history and in the midst of human life. To rediscover God is the very key to establishing the ideal world. Firstly, people have to know clearly what kind of transient period they are living in now.

348

When people come to know clearly about the coming age, communism would also be able to receive God. Because the coming age will be the world of love as a certain view of God is established.

349

Then, do you think God is with American Christians?

350

If God is with them, that God would be the one who is working not for the salvation of the individual level, but for the salvation of the worldwide level. In other words, the new view of God would be the God who is working for the sake of salvation on the worldwide level.

351

Why have Christianity and other religions separated from one another? It is because Christianity and other religions do not have the goal of going forward. On the other hand, communism has a clear goal, which is the destruction of capitalism.

352

If God is working through Christianity providentially, Christianity would have the providential goal. That goal should be much better than one of the Communists.

353

Because Christianity has no clear goal, Christians do not go in a certain direction and lie in an uncertain and vague situation for the future.

354

When Christians were confronted by strong persecution or difficulties, their direction changed easily. Then, what kind of faith do Christians have? They believe that at the time of the Lord of the Second Advent, the world will be destroyed. This is a big and horrible cancer of Christianity.

355

While communists try to dominate the world because of their beliefs, Christians try to escape from the world and argue that their denomination is the best. The goals of their denominations are vague.

356

If we describe Christianity, it is like fingers that do not move together but move separately and individually. In the last days, if God does not judge the world as Christians expect, what will happen?

357

How would God manage the difficult situation that will be raised, when the world is not judged by fire, but remains as it is? Therefore, the age of Christian culture, which does not fit God's providence, cannot help but pass away.

358

In this sense, we have to prepare how to manage the phenomenon that will be raised by the Christian view of the end of the world. (June 1, 1983)

Neither Democracy Nor Communism

359

Because today's humans do not know God and the relationship between God and man, they do not love. However, once they come to know the relationship and make a bond with Him, they cannot help but love.

360

Accordingly, to make a bond with humanity and reveal Himself, God has been working in this world throughout history. Firstly, to find the starting point of the ideal, in which the world can be unified into one, God has desperately fought, centering on thought and ideals throughout history.

361

Today, God's desperate fight is developed through the confrontation between democracy and communism. However, the problem is that the phenomena of today's world cannot be fundamentally resolved by those two thoughts. (11-58)

362

Democracy and communism did not provide a method that could remove social evil. Although democracy and communism were fundamentally developed from the desire to resolve the common problem of mankind, democracy not only failed to fulfill that task but also failed to overcome the destructive activity of communism. On the other hand, communism also could not resolve social problems completely, and rather ironically, brought about only a bigger problem.

363

Accordingly, the world came to fall into difficulty, and democracy and communism are facing a dead end where there is neither a victor nor a loser. That is our present actual situation, and the future of mankind appears to be unpredictable and gloomy.

364

Why can't democracy and communism be the solution for removing social problems? According to close analysis, the two thoughts do not have the core of the ultimate truth.

365

Even though democracy, on the positive side, contributed to the development of the political system, democracy has no clear and inclusive view of the world. On the other hand, communism has an inclusive and systematic view of the world, but it is based on false assumptions and distorted facts. (Nov. 15, 1983)

366

We are in the last days. Both democracy and communism are also in their last days.

367

Therefore, in the end, communism is struggling at the crossroads of life and death, and democracy is wandering at the crossroads of rising and falling. (Oct. 9, 1978)

368

Where does mankind have to go? Where is the ideal world that mankind has been looking for?

369

Mankind gave up its hope for the future. However, the ideal world, which the democratic world is pursuing, has no subjectivity or objectivity to be able to transcend today's present situation.

370

On the other hand, communism has a dream of having dominion over the whole world. But now, we can see that communist countries are pitted against one another. They cannot be unified into one. Their division is increasing and will result in the level of individual communism. (59-82)

371

The time for the democratic world is finished. The same for communism. Don't you think so? Although America was saying, “Oh, my fellow democratic countries, let's unite into one,” were they unified into one? Rather, the democratic countries are almost dead. Do people of the world welcome America? [No!]

372

They are saying that they will kick America out. Don't they say so? Communism also fell from the international level to the national level. At this national level, no matter how communists may try, they cannot establish worldwide communism. (90-303)

373

Truly, will democracy or communism be able to unify this world? They do not have the inner power to be able to absorb the world. If a thought tries to unify this world, the thought has to have an inner condition to be able to digest this world. (15-51)

374

Was there such a thought that teaches the problem of cause and effect? Communism? Even though materialism has its logic of cause and effect, it cannot be the fundamental and ultimate theory. On the other hand, the center of thought, which consists of democracy, is Christianity, but Christianity does not do it. (67-217)

375

Democracy centered on Christianity did not establish a welfare society of well-being. Communism also did not do that. Accordingly, the society that mankind is looking for cannot be established by the present democratic culture or communist culture. (16-165)

09The Reason Communism Must Fail

376

China And The Soviet Union

377

Whether communism would be destroyed or not can be guessed at from the controversy in the two countries.

378

If communism tries to dominate the world, centering on the Slavic sphere, communism will fail because the national level cannot digest the worldwide level. Do you understand?

379

Why are China and the Soviet Union conflicting with each other by arguing about revisionism and doctrinism? It is because they dream of trying to dominate the world, respectively, without going beyond their nation.

380

Such a thought centered on the nation will be destroyed. Therefore, to unify the world, thought has to go beyond nationalism. In this sense, to unify the world, people of nations who can love the world more than their nation should emerge. (34-337)

381

In 1957, the ideological controversy between China and the Soviet Union began. However, today, what kind of things are happening? “Although my father and mother are communists, I dislike communists. I dislike autocracy.” This kind of phenomenon is occurring. When such phenomena go through the first, second, and third generations, communism will be destroyed.

382

While the democratic world has God's will to save the democratic world, communism does not. Since the communistic world has nothing to do with God's will, it cannot help but fail. On the other hand, because the democratic world has God's will, it has some possibility of being saved by God.

383

Accordingly, when worldwide communism falls, the age of communism will end. Do you understand what I am saying? [Yes!] North Korea or China will no longer follow the Soviet Union. They became national communism.

384

Moreover, when North Korea is internally divided into two groups fighting each other, and when one side cannot remove the other people freely, the communism of North Korea will also end. (64-259)

385

The communist country is the same. When international communism emerged, it said, “We will be able to dominate the world centering on communism! Centering on the Soviet Union and the Slavs, people of the whole world will be united into one through communism.” They dreamed like this.

386

However, they were divided. Now, the relationship between the Soviet Union and China has fallen to the point that they can never be united forever.

387

Moreover, various ethnic groups within the communist country itself are struggling with each other because of their different characteristics, different habits, and the historical background in which they had fought against one another. This shows that communism itself decreases. (82-13)

388

Let's see. From 1957 on, the Soviet Union and China began to divide. The communist party tried to establish its dominion over the whole world, centering on the Slavs. This, in other words, is the same as saying, “Let's live for the sake of ourselves.” Because the communist party is divided, communism will be destroyed. (77-201)

389

What kind of world will be developed in the future?

390

Worldwide communism would destroy the one at the national level, and communism at the national level would destroy the one at the level of people.

391

Originally, the communist world was one, but it became divided between a Cain-type country and an Abel-type country.

392

In the future, Cain-type communist countries themselves would fight one another. When they come to fight against one another, on Satan's side, absolute individualism comes to emerge. On the other hand, on God's side, the worldwide thought will be advocated, and the world on God's side will be united into one. (16-195)

10Independent Communist Parties

393

How about communism? Now, communist parties such as Italy's communist party or France's communist party are opposing the Soviet Union and proclaiming an independent line. Is that right? [Yes!]

394

Communists were wandering about in the dream of the domination of the world, but as the dawn of history broke, they woke up from their rosy dream and began to recognize their reality. They had dreamed of unifying the world centering on communism, but that dream came to vanish.

395

Why is that so? It is because communism itself contains many possibilities of change. The dialectic itself is the logic of change. The dialectic cannot become the logic that establishes the standard of true value like a precious jewel.

396

The reason the logic of the dialectic emerged is that the democratic world does not recognize itself, does not find its position, and does not go its own way.

397

In other words, the dialectic is raised to stimulate the democratic world. Thus, the dialectic is just a temporal logic, which God can permit to stimulate the democratic world. (85-99)

From The View Of Ownership

398

While today's democracy favors individual ownership, communism promotes joint ownership. Although everything must be offered to God, the two worlds regard every possession as their own. That is the same as offering all ownership to Satan.

399

This is what we call communism. Although everything should be offered to God at the place of denying oneself, communism does not do so.

400

Even though communists deny individual ownership, they do not deny their ownership with a true mind, and insist on joint ownership in a false position. Because of that, communism must fail. (29-162)

401

What is the thinking process of today's Communist Party?

402

Mine is mine, and yours is also mine. This is the thinking method of the Communist Party. Such thinking must be destroyed. On the other hand, what is the thinking process on God's side?

403

Mine is yours, and yours is the family's, and the family's is the tribe's, and the tribe's is the people's, and the people's is the country's, and the country's is the world's, and the world's is God's, and God's becomes mine.

404

This is the thinking process of God's side. On this foundation, even the establishment of Utopia is possible, and the world of happiness, hope, and love is possible. Until now, mankind has not known the thinking process of God's side. (77-201)

From The Heavenly Viewpoint

405

The reason a country is destroyed is if the country is opposed to the heavenly ideal. When the heavenly mind and consciousness go together, the country can develop. Otherwise, the country will be destroyed.

406

Therefore, communism will be destroyed. On the other hand, because Christianity went with God, Christianity was invulnerable in Christian history. (13-240)

407

No matter how the Communist Party makes plans to become the central country of the world, centering on humanism, as long as they do not gain a victory over God, who is also trying to be the center of the world, communism must be destroyed, and the communist country will be subjugated before God. In the end, for God to become the center, we can conclude that God has to see the democratic and communist worlds collapse. (81-101)

408

Communists believe that they can lead the world centered on communism and can manage the world even in the future, but that is nonsense. Can communism digest the democratic world? Is communism prepared to receive the coming fortune of the future? Can communism take responsibility for the world on behalf of the God of justice? [No!] Communism is materialism. Because it denies the existence of God. It must fall over the cliff. (162-191)

409

The mission of religion is to reveal the existence of God and teach how to receive God's love. Therefore, True Father established the Unification Church and is now fulfilling such a mission. Once we occupy God's love, the dominion of the world will be different.

410

Today, some people are arguing for the ideal and love, disregarding the love of God. But such an argument is useless, and their efforts to pursue that ideal will fail. In this sense, communists are destined to fail.

411

If they do not fail, we should fail. Because communists deny human love, they are fundamentally denying all emotional relations that have been transmitted historically until now. However, no matter how they try to deny it, love cannot be denied. (18-327)

412

Because God's Day was proclaimed, both the democratic world and the communist world will be divided internally. Today, every phenomenon of the fallen world becomes decayed and destroyed, and even the last thing that is decayed has to be driven out to restore this world. (19-339)

413

At the time of Jesus, the difficult achievements of 4,000 years had been in vain, but today, our Unification Church will not repeat the same failure.

414

The surprising fact is that the historical foundation to be able to praise God has been made. But this has not been accomplished without a plan. All things that were tied are untied in accordance with the Divine Principle.

415

Let's think about how the spiritual world feels joy. If such an after-effect of our achievement influences the democratic world, America will be able to play an important role in the subjective position of heavenly history, and the realm of communism will collapse naturally. That will be done. The realm of communism will collapse naturally. (79-30)

416

We have to take responsibility for the history of the past, present, and future. Among the past saints, there is nobody who wishes that America and the democratic world would be dominated by communism in the future.

417

All individuals in the spiritual world who had lived on earth before wish to eradicate the root of communism in this world. Even former communists who are now in the spiritual world also wish that communism would fail.

418

Therefore, the spiritual world wishes that the Communist Party would be eradicated.

419

That is the wish and painful heart of our ancestors. Every spiritual person in the spiritual world wishes that. Thus, to destroy communism means to accomplish the wish of historical ancestors. (79-3 10)

420

Because communism denies the way of the saint and patriot and instead indulges in the material and secular world, it has to be destroyed. The universal force cannot help but remove communism. Communism will not last much longer. (April 12, 1981)

421

If we obey the law of indemnity, every problem in the world will be resolved. Do you understand? [Yes!] Then, would communism fail or not? [It will fail.] Communism must fail. Communists destroy their political enemies to maintain their power.

422

However, even if one went to the spiritual world because of a purge, because one's descendants remain in this world, their descendants will avenge the enemy of their parents. In such a situation, would the world of peace be likely to come? Would peace be likely to come in such a situation of horror and anxiety?

423

The world of peace can only come when one can say, “Thank you,” even visiting before one's death. On the other hand, when one says, “You took advantage of me. You had me sacrificed like this” the world of peace can never come. (80-238)

424

Would communism develop or not? The answer can be recognized through the law of indemnity. (32-35)

425

The thought of the Unification Church is not materialism. Unification Thought is the thought to raise people to God. Accordingly, God can raise the Unification Church. On the contrary, since materialism is thought to draw people away from God, if one follows communism, one must fail. (Jan. 1, 1980)

11The Period of No-Ideology

426

We are now facing a perplexed world. Moreover, we know that this world is filled with antagonism, jealousy, and disbelief. Regarding this present situation, people call this world the age of No-Ideology or the age of the destruction of the view of value.

427

On the other hand, religious people call this world the end of the world. Such a negative tendency is spread to the individual, family, nation, and world. In this sense, mankind is confronted by a despairing worldwide situation.

428

In the present situation, to pursue the new world of hope, a new central thought has to emerge that can be welcomed by the individual, family, society, nation, and the world.

429

When we briefly look at church history, the uncertain trend of thought centered on God led the Medieval Age for a while, but as that thought decreased, the humanistic world began to emerge. However, as the trend of humanistic thought also did not fulfill its mission, this world is now facing an extremely dangerous situation in which materialism has dominion over the world.

430

Since materialism is fundamentally based on the value of material, materialism can be said to be the thought of the end of the world. That is, we are now facing the thought of the end of the world. (78-98)

431

The present age is called the age of No-Ideology and the age of uncertainty. Nobody knows the fundamental cause of why this age is called that. Only through the manifested phenomena do people say that today's world is the age of the destruction of the view of value.

432

Today's young people, who are living in the cultural realm of the free world, are wandering because they don't know exactly where they should go. The destruction of the view of value is derived from the loss of confidence in the future. The wandering of the young generation, which is spreading like a terrible disease, also means the destruction of human society in the future.

433

As the age of uncertainty, which was caused by No-Ideology, continues, mankind will not get away from desperation. Intellectuals and religious individuals, as well as leaders, also will not get out of this swamp of despair. Academic institutes and universities also will not escape the hot wind of this destruction. (March 7, 1982)

434

The present society that we are facing can be called the age of disbelief and uncertainty. People are living with anxiety, worrying about an uncertain future, because the present situation is one of disbelief, as various problems conflict with one another. (March 7, 1982)

435

The Communist Party had a dream to unify the world centering on worldwide communism, but now communism has fallen down from the worldwide level to the national level.

436

When communism falls down from the national level to the tribal level, communism will meet its end. The democratic world is also falling down from the worldwide realm centering on America to the national realm, which can provide support only for America. America abandoned the world; now people of America are fighting among themselves.

437

Likewise, when the democratic world falls down from the worldwide level to the national level, the democratic world will meet its end. Therefore, today's world is called the age of No-Ideology. What view of value does mankind have?

438

What is the value of a human?

439

Today's human seems to have only the value of an animal. Because today's human becomes secularized and pursues only actual value, the value of his life is lowered to the value of an animal. Accordingly, today's human has nothing valuable.

440

Today, such a despairing result was fundamentally derived from false humanism, which had been raised against the blind faith of Christianity.

441

At that time, humanism did not know the spiritual human, but it knew only the animal human. By denying humanism, which denies the existence of God, we have to go toward a new stage that can affirm God again. Then, based on God, we have to establish humanism again. That is the law of negation.

442

When rediscovered, the denied God is not the same as the God of the past. This God is not the same concept of God that Christianity had insisted on in the past. The rediscovered concept of God should be the new idea of higher-level Christianity. (83-310)

443

As you know, you are facing the confusing phenomena of the world. Some people call this time the age of No-Ideology and the destruction of value. When we see the present age groan, owing to the desperate situation, we can feel that this is the age of revolutionary change.

444

This is the same for people of Korea as well as for people of America, who are leading the democratic world. The Soviet Union, which is leading the communist world is also groaning internally owing to such phenomena.

445

Although people don't know exactly what it is, individuals and nations are equally looking for a new start for the future. Because all people of the world share the same destiny, the whole world is expecting to come into the age of revolutionary change. (86-60)

446

This world is at the edge of a cliff. So, a worldwide breakthrough and worldwide leaders are needed in this world. A true leadership organization and a true master are not in this world.

447

Your mind does not become the master of yourself, and your parents do not become the master of your family, and responsible individuals do not become the masters of your country, and people who are leading this world do not become the masters of this world.

448

Not all people are true masters, but wage earners. Wage earners! Such wage earners exploit people and do everything for the sake of their own benefit. This world is filled with such poor people who are committing wrongs against the heavenly will. (84-207)

449

Where would mankind go?

450

There is nowhere to go. Because of that, young people are sitting and hesitating without attempting anything. People like us are moving busily every second because we have no time. On the other hand, these young people were sitting there when we went out in the morning, and when we came back at 3 p.m., they were still sitting there, because there was no place where they wanted to go.

451

You may be confronted by such a destiny eventually. True Father will see what will happen to the proud person, the proud intellectual person. In Japan, a professor committed suicide. Because the Communist Party made a disturbance in his country, and the people of the nation did not manage that, he committed suicide. Nobody can handle that.

452

How can this be overcome?

453

Mankind does not have a foundation to be able to overcome. There is no such way. Now, we need neither democracy nor communism. Only the ideal thought which the mind desires is needed.

454

To go out to find that ideal thought, now, some thought or theory is needed. However, such theory and thought are not the truth itself. They are just a bridge and a road to introduce truth. Mankind has to go over that bridge. (27-232)

455

Today's people make a disturbance with theories such as the destruction of the view of value or the age of No-Ideology. Therefore, now, the leader, who would lead the world by a subjective and certain thought, is requested by necessity.

456

Economic, political, and scientific problems are not relevant. A true person is like a treasure that must come out and raise a new revolution.

457

If that person becomes the master of the world and creates new value from the individual level, family level, up to the worldwide level, how wonderful it will be. That is the agony of discreet people at present. (85-100)
