In essence

  1. Distrust, Opposition, PlunderThree things stand at the root of everything that goes wrong, and they arrive in that order: refusing to trust, then resisting, then taking.
  2. What Counts as TakingAcquiring something without going through the position that entitles you to it; pay more than it is worth and the same acquisition is not taking at all.
  3. How You Treat What Is Not YoursAnyone who handles shared property more carelessly than his own already falls under it — and an organisation full of such people does not last.
  4. Why Swearing Is DiscouragedAn oath is believed completely once made, and from then on you are held to it — which is precisely why the counsel is not to make one.
1

Seeing it centering upon you as individuals, one thinks, “Ah, I must succeed.” We human beings think like this. This is likewise the same seen in terms of the family. It is the same seen in terms of our Unification Church too.

2

Again, even looking at one nation, representatively, America, it is likewise the same. Seen in this way, one can know that in the surroundings of your living there are conditions by which one can rise and conditions by which one can be ruined.

01In Human History There Is Without Fail a Principle of Rise and Ruin

3

Then we cannot but think of the question of what formula or what principle has been applied to our individual and family and society, or the world, through the historical process until now. That is an important problem. How must one do to rise? And how, if one does, is one ruined? We must not criticize history or this present age vaguely, saying one rises and one is ruined.

4

When one pursues this question, if one goes pursuing the very source, the starting point, it is the same even for Adam and Eve, who are the ancestors of our humanity. Not only that, but this principle of rise and ruin applies likewise in the future too. There can be no such law that the principle of rise and ruin, which applied in the past to Adam and Eve, who became the ancestors of our humanity, is not applied in this age. Again, logic such as that it applies only in this age today and cannot apply in the future does not hold.

5

Even though cultures differ and nations differ, however much there be changes of nations and transitions of culture so that East and West come to different results, or the past and the present come to different results, this formula alone remains solemn.

02If One Goes to Heaven’s Side One Rises; If One Goes to Satan’s Side One Is Ruined

6

In this world today, the democratic world and the communist world stand opposed to one another. There are two camps holding thoughts opposite to one another. Then here, by what road must one go to rise, and by what road, if one goes, is one ruined? We can know that these two problem points conclude here.

7

When one looks at you, when one looks centering on the young people of America, the question is whether the actual state of the present young stratum of America, which from an individualistic position cries out for freedom centering only upon itself, will indeed rise or be ruined. Over against that, the problem is whether the Unification Church, which is now receiving the dispute of the American people, will rise or be ruined. One can neither vaguely say it will rise nor say it will be ruined.

8

From of old, there is no one among our humanity, whoever it be, whether of East or West, who thinks he will be ruined. Is there anyone who says he will be ruined? (“No.”) There is not one person. The fact that there is not one person who says this is that we human beings are human beings who cannot be ruined. Such a conclusion comes out. Then why is one ruined? It is because one does not clearly know what being ruined is.

9

You have learned in the Principle that there is a God and there is a Satan. Seen in this way, we can conclude that if one goes to Heaven’s side, one rises, and if one goes to Satan’s side, one is ruined. In the end, what it is is that the dividing point of rise and ruin lies between God and Satan. Do you understand what that means? (“Yes.”) Then where are you? One does not know. One does not know now. Though one does not know, you yourselves know well that from the day the ancestors of humanity fell, one set out not on the road of rising but on the road of being ruined.

10

In the end, did one part from God and think of God, or did one part from God and come not to know God? Which is it? As the days go by, as history goes on, they say that God is dead.

11

Since one has entered a stage of not even knowing that God exists, it is not relevant whether God exists or not. What that says is that it is not God’s side but a side that has nothing to do with God. Centering upon God, the further one becomes from God, the more one rises. (“No.”) So, coming to now, the whole world’s humanity has collided with complete despair.

03Humanity, Which Has Collided With Despair by Taking Humanism as Its Principal Thing, Must Build a New View of God

12

Seen in that way, humanity has caught a mortal illness. It has caught a mortal illness. It has caught a mortal illness so that it cannot budge. However great America may be, however many humans there may be, since they are ill, they cannot but die. How is it with the young people of America? It is the same. If the young people of America die, America will not be long in being ruined.

13

Since, if one simply leaves this alone, it will be ruined, one cannot but write a prescription here. Then if one would prescribe, one must know what illness that person has caught. One must know whether that person has caught cancer or caught some lung disease, what illness he has caught.

14

Only then does one prescribe accordingly and make medicine for him or give him an injection. We cannot but think of a road by which we can save him even by applying restraint, by a play that person does not desire.

15

All of you, among people who have caught a mortal illness, is there anyone who says, “Oh dear, since I have caught a mortal illness, it is good to take medicine”? (“Yes.”) Do they like it? (“Yes.”) Does one take it because there is no help for it, or take it because one likes it? (Laughter.)

16

Medicine is…. You perhaps take it thinking that your illness must be cured, but when children who know nothing fall ill, and one tells them to take medicine, do they like it? Have you seen children who like medicine? There is not one child who likes it when one says “medicine.” One simply has to make them take it by force.

17

You, too, remember how your mother and father made you take medicine by force like that, do you not? Are there children who open their mouths wide when mother and father say “medicine”? There are none.

18

It is the same. Since the people of this world have all fallen ill and are about to die, one must prescribe and make them take medicine, but what medicine does one make them take? This is the problem. Again, is there anyone among the people of the world who says he will take medicine, who is waiting with mouth open, thinking it would be good if anyone made up medicine and gave it to him?

19

If, pitying that they will die, one carries on the play of opening their mouths by force and putting it in and thereby saves them, only then do they say thank you. Only after coming alive….

20

Then when do you say thank you? Only after taking the medicine and being cured does one meet the doctor and say, “Thank you.” At the very first one dislikes it and makes a scene, and only then does one say thank you.

21

Now then, what illness has one caught? One must know that. You wish to know that, do you not? (“Yes.”) Let us touch on this and pass on. God is an all-knowing and all-powerful One, but was there originally such a thing as Satan? If there were no such Satan who causes ruin, what would become of it?

22

If there is no illness, it means that all are healthy. That is a natural conclusion. It is the same. If there were no Satan…. Satan became the ringleader who causes ruin and planted the seed of ruin; if that were absent, what would become of the human beings of this world? They could not but rise. All of you men live, receiving suffering in the living of each day. He loves receiving suffering. Is it not so? Mind and body fight every single day. Again, because the environment does not suit my mind, one fights. Again, even though the environment has become one with me, nations and nations fight.

23

The American people will say, “America is a nation that leads the democratic world, so why do the communists come out and trouble us? If there were no communists, we would live well, so why do the communists come out and make a global problem…?” Now you do not know it, but hereafter the people upon this earth and the spirit people will fight. It has already entered such a dimension, and such a dimension has begun. For instance, the mentally ill…. Where is the source of all such maladies? The source is simple. The source is Satan, the devil. It begins with evil Satan.

24

Then what sort of being is Satan?

25

We must certainly remove all the seeds of ruin that Satan has scattered. What becomes the greatest problem is whether one is on God’s side or on Satan’s side. We must know this certainly. That is the most important problem.

26

What does one learn here? What is being on God’s side?

27

Seen centering upon God and Satan, whether one is on God’s side or not is whether one is a religious person or not. Such a conclusion comes out.

28

If God likes religion, Satan dislikes it. They are opposite to one another. Is that unmistakable? (“Yes.”) That is why, in the Last Days, what happens is that the work of dividing the world of God’s side and the world of Satan’s side unfolds. Therefore, there will without fail come out a world that opposes religion and a world that supports religion. This conclusion is natural. So what happens here? The question of humanism or theism comes out.

29

Seen from such a perspective, humanistic thought is not going toward God’s side but going toward the devil’s side. God’s side is the good world. It divides into two exactly. We must certainly know the fact that such a conclusion is coming about in the present time in which we are living. What sort of time is it now? It is a time of attacking the whole from within the sphere of humanism.

30

Then what will become of this world? Can there be hope?

31

For the whole world, there can be nothing but despair. In Eastern language, when one says "despair," it means that hope is exhausted. It means that it has become the end. That is why human history has already collided with despair. Why does it become so? It became so through becoming humanistic. Because the whole has thought of a world centered upon man, taking man as its principal thing, it cannot but be so.

32

Man has fallen. He is a descendant of the Fall. However much one reveres that descendant of the Fall, there is no chance of it turning out well. Then what must we do? As fallen human beings, one must revere what has not fallen. To revere what has not fallen, how must one do it? It is to return to God through religion. That is why, if there is a people that reveres God, a doctrine that reveres Heaven, and a world that reveres God, that cannot be ruined. Ought it not to be so? Because it is the opposite. Yet, coming to now, through humanism, everything such as religion or deity is being denied. They are denying it. It is collapsing.

33

Then what becomes a problem here?

34

Our humanity has no road to live by, taking humanism as its principal thing. Because such a conclusion has come out, now one must examine the deity again and examine the religion of the past and build a new view of religion, a new view of God, through God, that can surpass humanism. One cannot but establish the conclusion that, otherwise, humanity cannot live. Do you understand that? (“Yes.”) Unless such a movement is urgently made worldwide as a worldwide movement, one cannot save today’s humanity, which is in a state of despair.

04The Source of Evil Is Disbelief and Opposition and Plunder

35

What is the fundamental problem by which all such things as humanism or Satan’s side came to remain as an inner origin, as an inner condition? Satan’s departure…. What originally ought to have become one centering upon God, what ought to have belonged to God, became Satan.

36

Then what is the origin of evil?

37

We must know that certainly. The first is disbelief. It began with disbelief. If, in the unfallen land of the Garden of Eden, God is in the position of a parent, can we doubt that parent? Can one fail to believe and disbelieve? One cannot. That is why Satan is the ancestor of disbelief. What is Satan? Well, do you believe God or not believe Him? (“We believe.”) Know it certainly. Do you believe knowing certainly, or believe without knowing? How does one believe without knowing certainly? To believe without knowing certainly is to believe uncertainly.

38

Well, do you fellows of the Unification Church know God certainly? (“Yes.”) Do you know for certain or not? (“We know.”) If so, then one really believes certainly. How certain do you believe? How certain do you believe? Do you believe more than saying, when hungry, “Oh dear, I wish to eat”? (“Yes.”) Though one knows one’s own life is precious, do you know and believe it is more precious than my life? (“Yes.”) How on earth did one become an ancestor who can be ruined? One disbelieved disbelief. How did one come to have a starting point of ruin? By disbelieving. What? One disbelieved what one ought to believe. One ought to have believed God, but one disbelieved. If one had believed God, there would be no such thing as being ruined.

39

And next, what is it? The second is having opposed. He is the ancestor of opposition. Have you become one among yourselves? (“Yes.”) You seek to become so, do you not? Elements of opposition remain here. If so, here without fail Satan’s shadow has not yet been lifted. Holes are bored right through, but they are still full. All of you, there is an element of opposition, opposition. Is there not? “Oh dear, the Unification Church fellows are nothing special, and the Teacher too is nothing special. This and that…—there is something like that. There is something that opposes, saying that the Unification Church fellows are nothing special. Where one seeks to fight, it is so as a result. One fights through opposition. In a place where one seeks to fight, Satan has always become the master. In fighting, Satan has become the master. Is that not so? Satan, secondly, came forth opposing God.

40

And next, what is the third? It is plunder. What Satan did was, not only did he disbelieve God, but he also opposed and plundered God’s things. He plundered Adam and Eve and plundered all the things God made. So what is Satan? He is the ancestor of plunder. What is plunder? It is seeking to possess without passing through a principled position. You must know that that is the sphere of plunder. Without permission…. That is stealing. That is plunder. Is that not so? In saying, “Hey, I should like to make that mine,” there is without fail Satan’s wire net stretched out.

41

Yet to say that I will pay the price, a price beyond that, and possess it is not plunder. God invested all His devotion to create heaven and earth and all things. Just as He could thereby possess heaven and earth and all things, if we too invest the devotion of re-creation, invest the devotion of seeking to make it mine, and say we will possess it, that is the same as standing on God’s side and therefore is not a sin.

42

If that person is ruined, I shall have that…. All that is an element of plunder. Do you understand? (“Yes.”) From here come murder and robbery and theft and violation…. Everything from here…. Doing it by force, all that is a sin. For men, if there is a beauty, to say, “Ah, I shall make that woman mine,” and use a forcible method—that too is plunder. It does not get through.

43

In the medieval age they respected chivalry, and in that world there was such a thing as a duel. If, centering upon one woman, there are two men, whether a bad fellow or a good fellow, if one says, “Let us duel,” it is not so arranged that one retreats. That doesn't seem right. We must dig out the principled standard here. There is no principle in that. There is an element of plunder there. One can enter a position of being able to defend a standard that seeks to plunder. Every single time it can be so.

44

Setting American history before us, were there many elements of plunder in the historical process of America, or many elements of seeking to be for humanity?

45

If one looks at that, one knows at once whether America will be ruined or will rise. Satan plundered God’s things in the Garden of Eden. Among the plunderers of the world, the foremost plunderer, the great king of plunderers, is Satan. Whose things did he plunder? He plundered God’s things.

46

When you say “plunder,” you would plunder a nation’s things or others’ things, but that is less a sin than what Satan plundered. For us members of the Unification Church, will this law be applied or not? (“It will be applied.”) It is the same. It is all the same. It is such a thing.

47

If one says, “I should like to have this microphone…” and takes the microphone without permission, what becomes of it? If one says that here, in using the microphone, they do not love it as I do and treat it as valueless, but if I have it, I will keep it well and love it well, so is it not rather better for me to manage it than for the whole to manage it—and one quietly takes it? What is that?

48

There are public things and private things, and if one says one regards one’s own things as important but does not regard public things as important, that is all caught up in the content of plunder. Do you understand what that means? At your company there are people who use toilet paper or some memo paper and simply throw it away half-used.

49

If it were their own, they would not use it so, but people who use it so are all caught by the law of plunder. Do you understand what that means? When you used to go to a company in the old days, did you not regard the company’s things as more important than your things? How is it?

50

One is ruined. A nation that has such citizens is ruined. That nation is bound to be ruined. One way or another, it is ruined. A company that has such a person is ruined. Is that right or not? (“It is right.”) How is such a family? (“It is ruined.”) It is ruined. That is why, when one looks at this world wrapped in such a climate, the conclusion comes out that this world will one way or another be ruined. Why is it ruined? It is because it is Satan’s side. Satan is the king who causes ruin.

51

Who has dominion over hell? (“Satan.”) It is unmistakable. He drags away and sends to hell anyone who is caught by it even a little. Is there an element in you by which you can be caught by that law, or not? (The recording was briefly interrupted.)

05The Unification Church, Which Must Prescribe for a Humanity That Has Caught the Illness of Disbelief and Opposition and Plunder

52

And the next one is so arranged as to be ruined. Being ruined is death. And next, what became of it before God? One was driven out. One was driven out eternally. One was thrust into the valley of skulls, which is a place of death. Then by what do you know whether I can go to hell or can go to the Kingdom of Heaven? One knows by these three elements. It is simple.

53

Is there an element of disbelief in you toward God? (“Yes.”) When one says “yes,” one is already caught in Satan’s net. And next, is there an element of opposition? Toward God. (“No.”) (Laughter.) Again, if you think, centering upon your greed, “God’s Will or whatever; I come first,” that is plunder. When it becomes so, what becomes of it? Where does one go? (“One must die.”) One must unmistakably be killed. One must die, together with Satan….

54

Yet originally man is not so arranged as to follow Satan and be ruined. Seen in terms of original nature, we are not beings who can follow Satan and be ruined. My will and my notions have become elements of disbelief and opposition and plunder, but the mind is stifled. The mind is not at ease. It is gradually so. The mind gradually says it is dying.

55

Now, centering upon me, one has set up a wall of disbelief like this, a wall of disbelief. That is so. What that is is that one has collided with a barrier of opposition. And next, again, an element of plunder…. So how stifling would it be for a mind surrounded there, having no hole to go out by, even if it would go out?

56

If one diagnoses today’s humanity, what illness has it caught? What illness is it that it has caught: the illness of disbelief, the illness of opposition, and the illness of an element of plunder. Since one has come to die through such illnesses, one must write a prescription that can cure such illnesses. One must give an injection.

57

From such a perspective, facing a person…. Now, is it etiquette or a discourtesy to disbelieve a person? That is why the saying comes out to respect human rights. So, do not disbelieve! Face people, believing them! Yet that is vague. Why is one told to face them believing? One did not know this. What you must know is that when that person believes God, one faces him believing, but when he opposes God, one cannot face him believing. Such logic holds. In interpersonal relations too….

58

Now, we members of the Unification Church must face believing a mother and father who believe in the Unification Church, but if one believed a mother and father who do not believe in the Unification Church and oppose it, what becomes of it? One is kidnapped, kidnapped. We did not even know how to discern belief. We were confused. We were mixed up. Now we have come to know. When they believe God together with me, I absolutely believe them. This is the Way. This is the principle. Why is that? It is because Satan is not within God.

59

So to remove Satan, I must be on God’s side. If one applies such a principle, the logic holds that Satan is separated from me. Yet if one has wisdom, even though I do not believe, for the moment one does not say that one does not believe. In exchange, on the contrary, it is enough if I speak good words and set him on Heaven’s side and then believe him. It is enough to believe him then. Do you understand? (“Yes.”)

60

When we center on God, they all oppose. When we do not center upon God, Satan’s side simply makes use of everything as it is. It is the reverse. One seeks to snatch away the things of the satanic world alone, does one not? That is plunder. It is an opposite position. Even among members of the Unification Church, can one say, “Hey, never mind God’s words; listen to my words”? (“One cannot.”) One cannot. To say, “Never mind God or the Teacher or anything; listen to my words, all of you”—that is all destruction, Satan’s…. There are such fellows. That is all Satan’s operation of destruction. Such a person is a second Satan. He is a living Satan. Do you understand? You must know how to discern all such things. If one does not know how to discern, it will not do.

61

From such a perspective, our Unification Church opposes the communists. We oppose the communists. Is that right or not? (“It is right.”) If the communists too sought to make one world centering upon God, they would be genuine. That is right. You, not knowing such a relationship of before and after, the facts inside and out, simply unquestionably…. Until now, you did not know that it would not do without discerning that.

06We, Who Follow the Principle on God’s Side, Cannot but Rise

62

Now then, seen centering upon God’s side…. Seen centering upon the religious world I spoke of just now, Christianity opposes the Unification Church. Why does it oppose? Overall, which of the two is Satan’s side? (“Christianity.”) It is without fail so arranged. Then, seen from Heaven’s side, whom did He bless and set up more? Centering upon God’s side, whom did He set above and whom did He set below? Centering upon this question, it divides into above and below. Do you understand what that means? (“Yes.”) In what field did the Unification Church and Christianity take responsibility before God’s Will? According to the question of who holds the higher field…. Although we hold the higher field, however much they have a historical foundation, when they oppose us from the lower field, they, without fail, become Satan.

63

Now, when God looks at it, whom would He believe more?

64

Would He believe the Unification Church more or the established churches more? (“The Unification Church.”) Why? You say so because you are members of the Unification Church. (Laughter.) It is because we, following the principle, are on God’s side and are saying, “Let us be for the established churches. Let us believe them. Let us not oppose. Let us not plunder.” The pastors of the established churches—they think of making the Unification Church perish by whatever means, even by stealing.

65

What happened was, when one brought pastors to our training center and held a public hearing, because one treated them well, they said that even though they disliked eating, since it was the Unification Church’s, they would eat. Though one gave them chicken legs one at a time, or two at a time, they ate three and ate four and ate more, even by forcing themselves. They said they would eat even if they got diarrhea. That is all caught by the law of plunder. Would it be caught or not? It is caught at once. Yet the Unification Church says, “Eat quickly, eat quickly, eat quickly.”

66

When God sees that, what would He say? Would He say to the Unification Church, “You wretched fellows,” or would He say to the pastors of the established churches, “You wretch”? What would He do? Even now the Teacher is praying for the established churches. Though they disbelieve and oppose and do all sorts of things, and though they thrust me in telling me to die, the Teacher did not die. Why must it be so? Because one has resembled God, because God comes forth like that…. So it is God’s side. So the conclusion comes out that one cannot be ruined. It means that one rises.

67

If one receives opposition, one rises while receiving opposition. If one disbelieves, is one ruined, or does one rise? (“One is ruined.”) Yet while receiving opposition, is one ruined or does one rise? (“One rises.”) Even while being plundered, is one ruined or does one rise? (“One rises.”) Though it seems one will be ruined, though it seems one will die and disappear, one survives and rises. That is why a time draws near when the established churches can say, “We thought that, being a heresy, it would be ruined, but seeing it rise, aha, I do not know….” The Unification Church, because it follows such a principle—the principle by which Heaven is not ruined and develops—cannot be ruined. The conclusion is that it cannot but develop. Do you understand that? (“Yes.”)

68

Then how does one get free from this?

69

This is the same as Satan. So one must be the same as God. The conclusion is that one must be the same as God. One must decide, saying, “I am a person of God.” One must be decisive. All of you, have you decided? (“Yes.”) Now, let those who have decided raise their hands. Why does that person who was dozing over there raise his hand like that? (Laughter.) Was that deceiving the conscience or not deceiving it? (“It was deceiving it.”) Among you too there are swindlers.

07Only When One’s View Centered Upon God Is Certain Can One Separate Satan

70

Now, here the method of jumping over is to become the same as God. If one becomes the same as God, Satan is completely isolated. He is absolutely isolated. That is why, in the Garden of Eden, if Satan had decided, “I am absolutely God’s servant,” and Adam had decided, “I am absolutely God’s son,” they would not have fallen. You said you decided like this, did you not? Have you decided? (“Yes!”) What will you do if someone grips you by the neck? Is it so even if they grip you by the neck? (“Yes!”) Even when your eyes are popping out and you are dying? Even while the eyes pop out, must one say, “Yes, you wretch, I absolutely believe,” or must one say, “Oh dear, I do not know”? (“One must say one absolutely believes.”) One must absolutely be so.

71

Without such an awakening, Satan always invades. Satan is always aiming and coming to fish. Look at that fellow…. That fellow likes women, so he is with a woman; that fellow likes money, so he has money; that fellow likes power, so he is with power; he likes knowledge, so he has knowledge…. They seek to fish with all of it. That is so.

72

Now, in the Unification Church one does fundraising and makes a scene seeking to earn money; if someone said he would buy a whole month’s worth at once, one would go to that house every day. Then what will you do? In exchange, by whatever means one must turn him round with words. If there is no prospect of being able to turn him round with words, something else…. One simply says, “You buy.” One must not go beyond that. A limit line must be firmly fixed.

73

If one always has this boundary line firmly fixed, one cannot entice the women of the Unification Church even with money. Women of the Unification Church, is that so? Is it so arranged that even if one entrusts a safe to them, one cannot draw it out of the Unification Church? (“Yes.”) All of you, if some senator or president said, “If you marry me, you will become First Lady, so leave the Unification Church and come to me,” what would you do? (“I will not go.”)

74

If you wish to marry, what will you do? (Laughter.) When one says, “Listen to my words. Believe in the Unification Church, and the Teacher of the Unification Church is more important than I,” and he says, “Is that so?” Then there is a prospect. You must know that there is such a formula, a formula. There is a boundary line for everything. If one runs wild without knowing what is what, it is a great matter.

75

Again, when some university president says, “If you go to the Unification Church, you cannot even study and are despised wherever you go, so I will make you a scholarship student and make you study and feed you well, so for about four years do not believe in the Unification Church and listen to my words,” what will you do? (“I will not go.”) That view must be certain. It must be certain. Again, the lovers you had before coming into the Unification Church—if they say, “Oh dear, I thought you loved me, and what is this? You love the Unification Church more than me?” and tell you to come out. Will you go out? One must say, “You come in. Come in and love the people of the Unification Church more than me and love the Teacher of the Unification Church more, and then we can marry.” This is the thought of our Unification Church. (Laughter.) This is our view.

76

If the Teacher had not known all such things, would he have fought until now? (“No.”) That view is certain. “God, concerning me, be absolutely at ease”—such a principle…. “Because I have known that Satan’s working is like this, I will not be caught by such working but will absolutely stand on Heaven’s side and go with dignity”—one comes forth like that.

77

Do you need money? (Laughter.) I need much money. Do you need money too? (“Yes.”) If I had money…. Well, one cannot use it because there is none. If the president of America said, “Ah, Reverend Moon, come. I will hand over completely two-thirds of our American budget to Reverend Moon, so will you take down all the Unification Church signboards and become our American people and do as our nation tells you, as the president tells you?” What must one do? (“I will not go.”) That is certain. If one is certainly so, what must one do? One says, “Listen to my words, listen to my words, and do as I tell you—will you do thus and thus?” And so if he says “Yes,” that is done. When he says he dislikes it, I say, “I do not need your money; I think that the money you have gathered penny by penny is more precious. It means that I believe you more than the president of America. I believe you more than America. (“Thank you.”) (Applause.) That is so. It feels good, does it not? (Laughter.) Now are you certain? (“Yes.”)

78

When I look at some person, I at once think of whether that person thinks of centering upon God or not. My way of thinking is arranged like this: when he is on Heaven’s side, I must believe him, and I must support him in every aspect, and I must sacrifice and push him forward entirely. Yet when it is not so, I do not support him. When I make more effort than you and believe God more than you and am loyal for Heaven’s sake, I shall become richer than you and shall hold more of all knowledge too. Now, now you have come to know. If one were to jump over here, whom must one resemble? (“God.”) One must resemble God.

08If One Has Vowed Before God, One Must Not Forsake It but Push On

79

Would God ever, even in a dream, have had such a thought as, “Oh dear, shall I be God or not? It is difficult to play God. Since for several thousand years one must do the Providence of Restoration and all that, oh dear, it is hard. Shall I give up being God.”? (“No.”) Why not? It could be so. (Laughter.) Absolutely not. Is it about half full? (“Absolutely not.”)

80

So when God thinks of it, does it feel good or bad? (“It feels good.”) It feels good. If such a God believes, if He believes one, would He believe absolutely or believe about halfway? (“Absolutely.”) All of you, however much a villain, however sinful a person, when one goes before God and says, “Father, I vow, staking my life, staking the nation, staking the world,” God will hear that vow. He accepts that. He believes, saying, “Is that so? That is what I desire. Let us do so.” He believes a hundred percent.

81

Yet what becomes of it when one has vowed, “Giving all my life and staking the nation and the world, I will do thus before Thee,” and then cannot do it? Does it become, “Well, if one does not keep what one vowed, one will just leave off; what can God do?” It does not become so. At that time God says, “Is that so? In exchange for forgiving your sin and believing you, since you have not done it, giving all your life as you vowed, I shall apply restraint.” There is punishment. When one cannot be for the Will beyond what one vowed one would do for the nation, when one cannot go forward beyond what one vowed for the world, one comes to receive punishment.

82

That is why in the Bible it says not to make a vow. If one makes a vow, after one has made the vow, God believes one. You must know that until I forsake what I vowed, God always believes me and is always following me about, asking whether I go that road or cannot go.

83

If one cannot fulfill responsibility at that time, through that one person, even the merits of his ancestors are all taken away. You must know that such a play, such a fight, is unfolding.

84

What the Teacher himself is astonished at is that when one prays from a position of proclaiming and vowing before Heaven, it all goes to the spirit world and is publicly acknowledged just so. That is why one always thinks of how to set up the achieved result of what one vowed. Then will you now go back and forth, or not? (“We will not.”)

85

If one has made a vow and could not put it into practice, it is enough if one goes forward holding such a mind for even one second a day throughout one’s whole life. If one goes forward, one does not receive punishment.

09If One Would Go the Road of Heaven, One Must Go Holding a Certain View

86

That is why the problem is whether, having come into the Unification Church, you go along the horizon or go down.

87

Do you go down like this, or where do you go?

88

Some people come here and go down. Some people go down from here, and on the contrary, some people come like this but go up when they come here. It is of a thousand shapes and ten thousand forms. Some people go like this. Forever becoming like this…. You will be on one side or the other.

89

Now, what is the ideal thing here? This is forty-five degrees. If one goes like this, what becomes of it? This road is a road that neither God can accuse, nor Satan can accuse. You have come to know such a fact. The individual age, the family age, the tribal age, the people age, the national age, the world age, the cosmic age—seven stages unfold. At how many degrees are you going?

90

If one goes beyond this, it is better. How good it would be if one went right in? Satan’s side is now going like this. If you have come here, this much is shortened. This much is shortened.

91

Members of the Unification Church are on some line or other. Let those who say, “I am at least above the horizon,” raise their hands. You yourself will know; what is there to see? By what does one measure that?

92

If one would know that, by what must one measure? I must be for Heaven more than the people of the satanic world are for themselves; and I must be for Heaven more than the people of the satanic world are for their families; and I must be for Heaven more than the people of the satanic world are for their nation; and I must be for Heaven more than the people of the satanic world are for the world. One must be so in everything. Then one rises this much. One must know that. Only then does one rise to the horizon. The boundary between the satanic world and Heaven is here. It becomes so.

93

Now, if one has come up here, if from here, facing the summit of the world, one is for the individual, one goes up one more step, and if one is for the family one goes up one more step, and if one is for it again, one goes up…. It is the same. Is that so or not? (“It is so.”) Ought there not to be such a standard? Ought there not to be some standard? It is not blind. That is why one must always think of whether it is below the horizontal or above the horizontal.

94

If one says, “I have been going to the Unification Church for ten years, so it is enough if I go down like this from here,” will that do? Does that get through? (“It does not get through.”) If one dies here, where does one go? Will one go to the Kingdom of Heaven or go to hell? Though one has believed for ten years. (“One goes to hell.”) There is no forgiveness. So you must know the fact that until I go all that road that I must go, being for the individual and crossing beyond that for the family, crossing beyond the tribe, and being for the nation, this cold law is always aiming at the surroundings of my living, at my everyday, at my year, at the course of my life. Do you understand that? (“Yes.”)

95

Is that road an easy road or a difficult road? (“A difficult road.”) Good and evil cannot go together. One must all set out from here and pass through like this. (He wrote on the board.) One must pass through the evil world and go out this way. Since one has fallen away this much from here, to go up backward from this end to there, one must pass through this world. One must pass through this world and go up as far as God. That is why the conclusion comes out that before I overcome the world and overcome the spirit world and go, I cannot go to the heavenly kingdom.

96

So, the further one goes, is it an easy road or a difficult road? (“A difficult road.”) What becomes of it? The further one goes, is it difficult or easy? (“It is difficult.”) The further one goes, the more difficult it is. Then is the Teacher a pitiful person or a happy person? (“A happy person.”) Why? Why? Even though the road of suffering is plain? (“Yes.”) What is “yes”? Look. After I settle America to a certain degree, next I intend to settle Asia and then settle Africa over there. Think of that. The Teacher—why, Israel is not settled either…. If America were settled, if one succeeded here, one would just dance and live well…. Does it seem it will end here? No. It becomes gradually more difficult.

97

Looking quietly at our Mother here, she is pitiful. That woman has simply followed until now, and now will she follow again…? If she says, “Oh dear, I dislike Africa, I dislike Asia; let us live in America, America,” it is a difficulty. Then what must one do? Must one listen to the words of one’s beloved wife and say, “Oh dear, your words are right. I wish it so too. I shall stay here,” or must one say, “It will not do!”? (Laughter.)

98

How must one do? Even without explaining, you all know. Even without explaining, you all know. If she really will not follow, there is no help for it, and the word comes out that one must divorce again. (Laughter.) If it becomes so, would you say, “Ah, our Teacher is doing that again”? (“No.”) Will you say he did well or did badly? (“That he did well.”) (Laughter.) Such logic holds. Seeing all such things, even though the world says it is not so, we can here completely discern everything that can be dignified before Heaven and based upon righteousness.

99

How different it is from what the world is seeing! That is why we must hold a certain notion, a certain view. Whether a person succeeds or not is determined according to how many times in a lifetime he decides or fails to make one. Likewise, all the problems of our lifetime too…. Through such a principle, one can completely settle the accounts from individual problems to world problems. One comes to know it as such a formula. This is a great view.

10Become a Person God Can Absolutely Believe

100

A person who guides is always…. The Teacher always, without holding private feelings, enters a fair position, a position of being for Heaven, and makes decisions. Even though that is not applied at once, the conclusion comes out that on the day one pushes forward as decided, there is nothing that does not succeed. Do you understand that? (“Yes.”) That is why I say go to the very end.

101

God does not go back and forth. He is absolute. I am unmistakably a son of God. It is so in my house and so in my family and so in society and so in the nation and so in the world where I live and in the spirit world where I shall go. This is my view. That is why, once God believes that this is a person who will go like that, He cannot but believe eternally. So, since He can believe in the future too, God can now cooperate with peace of mind, and therefore the conclusion comes out that one can develop quickly.

102

Now, if one believes today and tomorrow…. If one believes in the individual age but cannot believe in the family age, and if at that time God comes to disbelieve again, He cannot bless. And next, if one believes in the family age but cannot believe in the tribal age…. I say do not be so. If from the first one says, “I am decisive. From the individual to the very end, whatever heaven and earth may be, I have decided to go.” Then wherever one goes, Heaven cooperates. Even so, Heaven suffers no loss.

103

Think of God. Even if you were God, it would be so, would it not? It is just the same. That is why you must know that the road by which one can induce a great blessing lies in such a great attitude of faith. Does it seem that God loves and blesses the Teacher? (“Yes.”) Why? How do you know it? Do you know by looking at the face? How do you know? One knows by looking at you. One knows by looking at people. One can know by looking at you.

104

Look. You who do not even believe your mother and father believe the Teacher. For what reason do people who do not even believe their nation believe the Teacher? For what reason do they seek to believe the Teacher’s nation, the Teacher’s world? Why is that? Do you think it came about because you did so? It is Heaven that caused it, Heaven. Because God controls it, you…. Heavenly fortune, one knows not what it is, is moving from here.

105

However much the people of the world, the American people, research, though there are many leaders more excellent than Reverend Moon who came from the East, while Reverend Moon of the Unification Church is an object of dispute and a figure of problem, they do not know for what reason they follow. What is there to follow in that? When one can follow but does not, why does one follow? Without your knowing it, you were caught by a strange wind.

106

Seeing that, is it not all so? This work of being for the Teacher and saying one will follow the Teacher’s road, crossing beyond the people and crossing beyond the nation, cannot be done unless Heaven does it. By human power it cannot be done. Heaven must do it. Again, even your ancestors keep seeking to cooperate with the spirit world, telling you to follow the road Reverend Moon goes. Why is that? Is it because Reverend Moon has become a person to be believed, or because he has become a person not to be believed? Think of it. They all know that Reverend Moon cannot change.

107

Can you change or not? (“We cannot change.”) Good. Then I shall oppose you. If I oppose, no one whatever will be able to follow. Look. He is a person who has come forth blocking the most opposition and thinking such thoughts. If he were to oppose, how fiercely would he oppose? All of you, are you unshaken even if I oppose? (“Yes.”)

108

Now, much time has passed. Now, I do not waver; I am decisive. Have you decided from now? (“Yes.”) When he said, “I shall give you the whole world, so worship me,” you too must be like Jesus, who kicked it away. (“Yes.”) Then where will you kick it? Will you kick it forward or kick it backward? If one kicks it forward and that person gets up, one must fight again, and it feels bad to climb over him, so one must kick it backward and send it flying. One must kick it backward. Can you do that? (“Yes.”) Then it is simple.

11Only by Absolutely Believing and Becoming One and Loving Does It Become the Kingdom of Heaven

109

That is why it is purely the opposite. The opposite of disbelief is absolute faith, absolute faith. Is that so? And next, what is it? Become absolutely one. One becomes absolutely one. There must be complete harmony. It is peace. And next, the third—what is the opposite of plunder? One must give everything. One must give everything for God’s sake. It is not giving for Satan’s sake. It is giving for God’s sake. If one gives for God’s sake and then gives to Satan, since Satan cannot take God, then one is dragged along. One must give so; one must not give Satan without giving God. One must know this certainly.

110

That is why I sacrifice for you in the name of God. Is this not this movement? Ah, in my name you…. It will not do. Do you understand what that means? (“Yes.”) If one does not stand on God’s side but simply stands on Satan’s side or stands in the middle, one loses everything. Here one plunders, centering upon Satan, does one not? Here, on the contrary, one must sacrifice everything centering upon God. Where there is plunder, here it is God’s love.

111

If the Jesus who said, “Abba, Father, forgive their sin,” had offered such a prayer without standing on God’s side, it would not get through. It does not get through to God. Because Jesus was in a position standing on God’s side, and because there is God’s Will to save all people, He can forgive. That prayer was accomplished.

112

If Jesus had offered such a prayer without standing with God, would that be done? It does not get through. Because he stood on God’s side…. Again, because there is God’s Will to save the enemy world, because he knew that, he offered such a prayer. That all gets through. This is what differs.

113

In believing, God is the center of everything. God is the center. If one left out God and simply believed in the world as it is, what becomes of it? One is swindled. Until now, the world of faith did not know this certainly. They did not know where the boundary line is and where the limit line is. If one absolutely believes and becomes one and loves, it becomes the Kingdom of Heaven. Then one rises.

114

If one absolutely believes and becomes one, love is established there, so it becomes the Kingdom of Heaven; and that is why one must say that the road of the Kingdom of Heaven is the road of rising. Do you understand what that means? (“Yes.”) This cannot disappear. This is the original ideal and the Kingdom of Heaven. Because Heaven is always and eternally together, one rises; and since God becomes the center within that, it becomes a nation centered upon God. That is why it cannot be ruined, and that is why eternal life arises. So all such words as "eternal life," "eternal blessing," "eternal peace," and "eternal love" come out.

12If One Removes Disbelief and Goes Forward Absolutely Believing, One Cannot but Rise

115

What today’s title is is the dividing point of rise and ruin, and one must know certainly where that dividing point of rise and ruin is. God’s side and Satan’s side, faith and disbelief—one must know all such things certainly. If one has become angry, if one stood on God’s side and was angry with righteous indignation, publicly, that is dignified and right. Yet becoming angry and centering upon oneself is Satan’s side. It all becomes so. Do you understand that? (“Yes.”)

116

Studying, or going to a company, or everything by which I eat and see and hear and live every day is decided according to this formula. One must know that. In our Unification Church, fellows doing fundraising and witnessing all receive opposition. It is natural to receive opposition. It is such a thing. The satanic world hates it.

117

Yet all of you, when I have truly faced a person, for Heaven’s sake, a person who betrays that sincerity has his blessing taken away by me. He carries on a play of setting up such small people as me and having them receive opposition and thereby finding a nation all at once. The blessing comes back all at once. All the merits of the good ancestors of the person who opposes are piled up on this side.

118

Now, seen from such a perspective, this formula will all be applied in the fight set upon the Yankee Stadium rally too. Then am I on Satan’s side or on Heaven’s side? One has decided now. Which side is it? One decided just now, did one not? (“Yes.”) Then where does one go now? One goes past Yankee Stadium to Washington. It is unmistakable. Even if Kim Sang-cheol opposes, one goes. (Laughter.) Even if the Teacher opposes, one goes, even if the Teacher opposes. Ignore it and go. One must kick that out. And the next one goes to Moscow. (Applause.)

119

Whoever opposes, one goes. If the Teacher has so decided, even if God forbids one to go, one pushes God aside and tells Him to move aside and goes. If it becomes so, God, even after being kicked once, is so arranged as to praise one, saying, “Ha, that fellow indeed…” and turn about—would He say, “You wretch”? He does not do so. Think of it. Cannot it be so?

120

Now then, is disbelief needed presently? Do you need disbelief? Let those who say disbelief is needed raise their hands. If there is such a fellow, he will be ruined. I say be ruined. Do you say, “We dislike being ruined? The Washington rally or the Yankee Stadium rally—what is the Teacher doing spending so much money? It would be enough if he did not make us suffer and let us all rest. Oh dear, that Yankee Stadium rally, I am against it.” Are you against it? Are you not of that side? Are you the opposing side or our side? (“Our side.”)

13The Yankee Stadium Rally Is a Historical Dividing Point of Good and Evil

121

And next, there is this. “Church or whatever, I must do fundraising and use some myself. This lot I shall take to the church, and this lot I shall take myself; since I earned it, what is wrong with using a little?” Will you do that, or will you put a hundred percent in here? (“A hundred percent in here.”) If even a penny has gone into my wallet, I shall take even that out and put it in here—is it so? How is it? (“It is so.”) Then one absolutely will not be ruined. One absolutely will not be ruined.

122

Now then, does the Yankee Stadium rally fail or succeed? (“It succeeds.”) If one is not victorious, Heaven’s work is not done. God cannot accomplish the Will. If through such people, through people this thoroughgoing, He does not cooperate so that one cannot be victorious, God cannot accomplish the Will. People this thoroughgoing and this thorough through and through….

123

Now, look at the world. When one looks at the world, is there anyone who discerns even such concrete content entirely and is positive in being for God? Does it seem there is somewhere else? Does it seem there is in some other denomination? (“There is not.”) So He must cooperate. He must cooperate. So is the Yankee Stadium rally a victory or not? Is it being ruined or rising? (“It rises.”) Do you like success? (“Yes.”) “Suc-” is ssak in Korean, which is a sprout, and “-ceed” is ssi, which is a seed. If one becomes one with the Teacher, everything prospers. I stand in the stead of the Korean people, and you stand in the stead of the American people…. If there is a seed and a sprout, that is enough…. (Laughter.)

124

Now, is there a problem with the Yankee Stadium rally or not? (“There is not.”) Centering upon God, one must say, “That I absolutely believe God is stronger than eight million, ten million New York people joined. If I have a tug of war with you, you are dragged over.” Do you have confidence in that? (“Yes.”) In coming, one says not to come just so, but to come bringing money and bringing property. One must think so. Money for me to use, people for me to use…. One thinks so. And next, what is it? It is “opposition.” “You oppose, but I do not oppose. If your lot, who oppose, and I, who do not oppose, have it out, I win.” Everyone opposes. (The recording was briefly interrupted.)

125

Now, like Jesus, who offered a decisive prayer in the garden of Gethsemane, setting the people of Israel before him, one must advance holding the conviction that one will drag this whole New York and connect it to complete God’s Will, even if one must bear the cross and go toward Golgotha. That is why one must think that upon the road I go, hang my family, my nation, my world, and my heavenly kingdom.

126

As you know, the Yankee Stadium rally becomes a historical dividing point and becomes a standard of total indemnity. This is the dividing point of good and evil. Think of this dividing point of good and evil as this world-historical Yankee Stadium rally; how tremendous it is. What they are now doing throughout America to trample the Unification Church and Reverend Moon will be reversed. One must make it so. (“Yes.”)

127

Will this be easy or difficult? The men are to pull up from here, and the women are to pull down from here. Raise and lower. The women pull down and the men pull up. So it becomes exactly reversed. And next the women must push up and the men push down. One must make one revolution. If one only turns it three revolutions like this…. There is a motor, is there not? Kick, kick, kick…. Just as if one only turns it three revolutions, it goes around with a whirr; on the day one only turns it three revolutions, the world turns.

128

So if one turns it once at the Yankee Stadium rally and turns it one revolution at the Washington rally too, and next goes to Moscow and turns it once, the world turns. It turns eternally. (Applause.) Then this dividing point disappears. At that time, when brides bear children, those children will all go to the Kingdom of Heaven. How good is that? In the past, it was a han that women bore many descendants who go to hell, but now a time comes when it can be a boast to bear many people who go to the Kingdom of Heaven.

14The Yankee Stadium Rally Must Be Made a Success With the Women at the Head

129

That is why the conclusion comes out that in the Kingdom of Heaven there is no birth control. (Laughter.) If one can bear them, one is told to bear twins and triplets and quintuplets. At that time one boasts of that. One used to think that going about with a swollen belly was a woman’s disgrace…. (Laughter.) It is not something to laugh at. It is not something to laugh at. One must quickly settle the accounts of this wretched world, that evil world. I am now anxious lest the children of our Blessed Families fall.

130

Who will do that work? Will you do it? (“Yes.”) This small company? (“Yes.”) I say it can be done. I say it can become so. It is a bullet, a bullet. If one fires a gun, the sound is made on this side, and the incident unfolds over there.

131

If one were to fire a cannon, even the person firing the cannon must cover his ears. Everything is serious. It is serious. Let us fire with one shot. Shall we fire with ten shots? Shall we fire with many shots? (“With one shot.”) For that, who will take the tip of the shell? If the tip of the shell is bent, it all goes wrong. The tip of the shell is straight…. What does one call that? A cannonball? Who will become the tip of that shell? Who? Will it be a woman or a man? (“A man.”) Do the women stay still? When one asks who will become it, who must answer, man or woman? (“A man!”) (Laughter.)

132

Who fell first? Did the woman fall first or the man fall first? (“The woman.”) And next? (“The man.”) If the woman had not listened to Satan’s words, the man too would not have fallen, and Satan too would not have come into being. It came into being because of the woman. Because of the woman. The archangel does not become Satan. That is why the woman must go at the head, the woman. Does it feel good or bad? (“Bad.”) Eh? (Laughter.) Then do you wish to change it? (Laughter.) Do you wish to change that or not to change it? Which do you desire? One must set these women at the front. One must set these wretched women at the front.

133

Now then, will it do if one considers her circumstances? When flying, fly well, and when exploding, explode to smithereens…. That is the mission of a shell. I think it would be good to become something like a guided missile, a guided missile. Do you understand what that means? If one lays you off to the west, you fly and go to Yankee Stadium. Even if one fires to the east, one goes there. Yet if one comes to fall over there, one must jump and fly there. Can you do that?

134

That is why this time not one woman must lose to a man. This is a principle. This time at least one absolutely must not lose. Since this time is the second time, it is the age of Eve. This time at least the women must succeed here. Only then does the woman live and the woman get ahead; otherwise, it will not do. Can you do that? (“Yes.”)

135

Look. Now, a woman is necessary. Even in doing fundraising, a woman is more necessary than a man. Men are not needed. A woman is necessary. Even in witnessing, a woman is better than a man. That is a fact now. Is that so? "Yes." "No." (Laughter.) Women, is it so or not? (“It is so.”) Men, is it so? (“No.”) It is so! (Laughter.)

136

The other day Kamiyama said, “Teacher, now two-thirds of the fundraising members are men; please change all these people to women. The women do twice what the men do. Does that mean a man is necessary or not necessary? Look. A woman both Satan likes and God likes. (Laughter.) One must know that. It is so. If Satan sees one, he opens his mouth, and the male fellows too, if they only see a woman, open their mouths…. Why? Because the Fall was done like that. Because they like women, it is so arranged that they listen well to a woman’s words.

137

Still more, in America, if a man slights a woman in the street, there is nothing more shameful than that. In America, because it is etiquette for young gentlemen to respect women, the conclusion comes out that if one says, “Please buy one flower,” there is not one man who will refuse. Why did God make American history like this? Think that He made it like this to make the Yankee Stadium rally succeed. (Laughter.)

138

The fact is so. That is why one must coax them all over. Can you do it? (“Yes.”) One must do it while keeping the principle as a principle. Now, will the men just look on? (“No.”) In exchange, eat what is left over after we eat. (Laughter.) All of you, is that good? (“No.”) Then what will you do? In the Garden of Eden, how badly must the man have done…. Because the man did badly, they fell, did they not? The man, this wretched fellow, failed in responsibility, and they fell.

139

In exchange, in the age of Restoration today, if the men become men who can fulfill responsibility and say, “The woman dances on this little finger of mine,” God too would not say that is bad. One must be so. Otherwise, these men—can they catch and eat even a piglet? They cannot. So men, will you lose to the women or not? (“We will not lose.”) You wretched women, will you lose to the men or not? (“We will not lose.”)

140

Even in saying “yes,” a woman’s voice is small, “yes,” and a man’s voice is loud, “Yes!” Look. Even if one cuts off the nose, is a man’s nose bigger or a woman’s nose bigger? Let us compare. (“A man’s nose is bigger.”) The eyes? (“A man’s eyes are bigger.”) The ears too are bigger in a man. The head too is bigger. Everything is bigger. Will it do for such fellows to lose? Again, in eating too, does a woman eat more or a man eat more? (Laughter.) And then if one loses, the feeling….

141

Now, so let us try it once. Why must the man not lose? Even thinking of the Teacher’s dignity, one must not lose to a woman. Will you lose? (“We will not lose.”) So if a woman does five hours, a man does ten hours; and if a woman does not sleep, one does not even come in but eats there and simply nods off…. (Laughter.) What is this broken thing (a cup)? Is it a man’s or a woman’s? What is this smashed thing? Is it a man’s or a woman’s? There were two, and one is broken. (“It is a woman’s.”) Is it a woman’s? (“No.”) Is it a man’s? (“Yes.”) One must think of Mother. (Laughter.)

142

I do not lose to Mother. I do not lose in sleeping and do not lose in working. (Laughter.) If so, one must inherit that tradition—can men lose? Will you lose or not lose? (“We will not lose.”) Will you? Will you not lose? (“We will not lose.”) Will you not lose? (“Yes.”) You will lose. (“We will not lose.”) (Laughter.) And the women? (“We will not lose.”) If one cannot do it, it is a disgrace. “Now I lose, but some time I shall win…” When will you win? “When it comes to dying, I shall sit astride”—think so. “If I come to die after the man has died, I shall take what the man earned and die”—that will do. After the man has died. (Laughter.) One must hold at least such a thought.

15Become a Warrior Who Can Stand in the Stead of More Than Ten Thousand People

143

Now, what is it that one seeks to do by this? Is it that Reverend Moon will succeed or that one will save America? Which is it? (“That one will save America.”) First it is America, and next it is the world. Do you understand? It is not that some yellow fellow named Moon will succeed. It is to set right entirely what the white-race American people have done wrongly in taking charge of the world until now. So I shall make it succeed even by driving you with a beating. Is that welcome or not welcome? (“It is welcome.”)

144

Recently I went to Florida and stayed several days straight. In fact, I had intended to come about the day after tomorrow. Yet when I quietly thought about how to make use of these fellows for this Yankee Stadium rally, today is Sunday. It is the third Sunday since this year came in. Saying that it would not do for me not to be here on this third Sunday, I flew in. Having come, I thought, “How shall I carry out a brainwashing operation on these fellows and by whatever means make the Yankee Stadium rally succeed?” (Laughter.)

145

So one must make it so that if one blows at Yankee Stadium with a whoosh, everything flies away. The men blow from the east, and the women blow from the west, and I blow in the middle, and so it is enough if one only blows it up with a whoosh. With a whoosh—I shall blow it up into the sky. Can you do that? (“Yes.”) This must not be crumpled. It must not be crumpled. Only if it is not crumpled does it go up well. Can you do that? (“Yes.”) That is what one does from now on. Kant! Has the Yankee Stadium contract been made? How is it?

146

Now, know it thus…. Now, has a conviction arisen that one can be so? (“Yes.”) Let us sweep it away. If one does this, history will be shortened by several thousand years. So it is worth doing, is it not? All of you, think of it. Every week the Teacher speaks about the Yankee Stadium rally; do you feel how serious it is? (“Yes.”) The problem is great. You do not know, but the problem is great.

147

In 1776, when America became independent, a great wave arose. This has now come down. Spiritually, it has come to the very bottom. All material standards are abundant, but it is the lowest time spiritually, and how must one do for this to go up above that? One must cross over. Now America is at a level far lower than that. Is it not so? Is there a road to go up? There is nothing but a road to go down. Only we alone…. Then what must one do? One must kick all this over and make it roll and push it. There must be a force that pushes.

148

How will one go up? What has been coming down? If one does not rise now, America is forever finished. It is ruined. Now the American people are divided in half because of Reverend Moon. The lot who oppose Reverend Moon and the lot who say Reverend Moon does well—they are divided in two. At the time of Madison Square Garden, they were astonished, and their eyes—when one is victorious this time, what will become of it? There is something there….

149

Now, this young company, this young company holding strong organizational power—what will it become ten years from now? One must think that it will move America and have some left over. All of you, think of it. If one said to exchange one of you now for a hundred young people of the world, would you exchange? Do you think you are better than a hundred people of the world, or less? (“I think I am better.”) Better than how many people? Do you think you are better than a thousand people? (“Yes.”) Do you think you are better than ten thousand, a hundred thousand? (“Yes.”) That is so. One must think so.

150

Look. If one reckons the members of the Unification Church at thirty thousand, it is not even one ten-thousandth of the American citizenry. If one reckons thirty thousand, it is one ten-thousandth of the American citizenry. That is why, unless each one of you holds the conviction and confidence that you can stand in the stead of more than ten thousand young people and stand in the stead of the people of this nation, one cannot move and win America. One must think that the balance of force is upset. Do you think so? (“Yes.”) One must think so.

151

Knowing it thus, you…. On the day America becomes one America without such a dividing point, without a dividing point of good and evil, an America that has no opposition and can support the Unification Church, the world will come alive. Now, let those who say they will take part in that war, those who say I will unmistakably become a veteran in this, raise their hands. Lower them.
